If it's a newer version with the lock, I'd not be interested.

That's about the price of a brand new 7 round one.

Thank you. I just got back from looking at it again. It is a newer model with lock. It has had nice trigger job which is a plus. The label shows it as a M686 Plus. Store price is 679 and tax is added. The place has given me good deals, and they are struggling a little so I'll pay their price if I get it. I tried a Ruger Service Six, and it's just not for me. I'll be putting it up for sale tonight.

It comes with all the paperwork and box. The grips are a set of wood and a set of rubber. Looks like both are from S&W. And it is a -6

I'm still kicking the idea around. The balance is really nice. Not as great as a K frame, but nice. I couldn't believe the low stock my dealer had, and he had ordered a lot of stock. Good for him obviously.

I bought a NIB 686-6+, 6" awhile back ('14) for $720 but couldn't get use to the round butt grips. In fact too small for my hand so I sold it & bought for more $$ a used 686-3, 4 1/2". This is my fav S&W. 7 shot is cool though. Kind of like buying a car -- has to fit the user just right.
