Smith and Wesson 629-3 magna classic questions
Hello and thanks in advance I ran across one and couldn't pass on it it's high polish stainless 7.5 inch barrel suppose to be only 3000 made. Was made in 1990 Was told 1500 stainless made and 1500 blued but not sure Has all factory paperwork box key has only been shot at factory. Wondering how rare these are also value and would you shoot it? Just got home gonna try to do some research I believe they are made to be enjoyed. Any other information would be greatly appreciated

Please post pics ! We like pics here !
To answer your question, the dash-3 guns [629-3, like yours] benefitted from the Endurance package upgrade, having a hardened yoke and frame. They also had longer stop notches compared to earlier guns.
I’d shoot that thing until my hand hurt.
Nice gun !

Welcome to the Forum. So many members here, with so much knowledge, its absolutely incredible. However, to help out, those folks need to know some further information. Like the dash number after the 629 as in 629-1 629-2 etc. Barrel length, serial number and pictures all help, and if you have the box, the end label which can reveal the product code, ship date, etc. .44 Magnums are great guns, very versitile, have a great time with your new piece.
Oops!! Missed the 7.5 inch barrel length! Very nice.

Beautiful gun, hard to believe it's stainless and not nickel, with that shine. I'm not a big fan of the full underlug, though, I prefer the partial length shroud. In any case it will be fun to shoot it, and you'll get a lot of attention at the range.

Beautiful! That’s really nice. I’ve seen a few of both, blue and SS, but never owned either. They’re almost “too nice.” Impressive revolvers to look at. Congrats on your new .44!

The Other M629 with 7-1/2" barrel
This is the square butt model sold by Ashland Distributing. I've owned it about 6 years after buying it off Gunbroker.

This is my 29-5 MagnaClassic serial MAG0612 purchased from a local private seller in November 2020. I found a couple more for sale on Armslist but have never seen one of these in blue or stainless at a gun show or in the local classifieds. Figured I should snap it up, and am glad I did. Yours is a beauty! Enjoy!

S&W MAGNACLASSIC 1990 STAINLESS
Does anyone know what the current value is. It is in the orginal box with all paper work and unfired since factory. We are trying to settle my uncles estate. Is 2500.00 too much to ask?

They tend to go for around $1500
You would sit on it forever at $2500.
You could start it $1800.
Are you selling it locally or on an auction site?

I remember when the Magna Classic came out Guns & Ammo was able to test 7 of them in a Ransom Rest for accuracy. Wiley Clapp wrote the article. Surprised that they were able to test that many samples of a low production revolver.

I picked up an unfired 29 version on Gunbroker last year. When all was said and done i was into it for just a tad over $1600.
I haven't shot it yet but that doesn't mean I won't!
