Default Found my 625 MG

Found exactly the 625 MG I'm looking for, a 625-6 in .45 Colt. Track of the Wolf even has .45 colt brass in stock so I don't need to rely on my supply of Weblely, although of course I will still try it out. As soon as I can get the mold I need I'll have it made in the shade

Sure wish I'd kept mine. Bought it new in the early 90's for around $600 bucks. Traded it for a 1006 maybe 10 years ago. Sure miss it. Found a 25-5 45 colt a few years back to replace it, but I really like the durability of the stainless 625's.

That one's a beauty! Congratulations!

Exclamation Colt in Disguise

Congratulations! That is a great Revolver. I like mine
and it is always in the Range Bag Rotation.

Curious what Mold are you getting. The 250gr Lead
Round Nose Flat point/Semi-cutter is dead on in mine.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

Way to go. Love mine also. it is my summer mountain carry gun. One of these days I am going to get rid of my 629-1 and find a 629 mountain gun (of course without the Hillary hole in it).

I'm getting this one MP 454-640 HP PB 4 cavity mold - MP-molds

I wanted something a little heavier than the typical 250-255, and that bullet has a reputation for excellent accuracy. Plus it gives me the option for hollow points.

Smile Heavy Weights

If I may ask, what is your intended use for that
heavy of a bullet?

Mostly woods/farm carry, this will replace my .44 redhawk in that job, since it's dramatically lighter. I plan to keep the velocity to under 1000 fps, probably around 900-950. I will probably also use it for bowling pins.

I went with that profile since I would like to get a .45 colt lever gun as well and the non SWC shape should feed a little better.

I also have several lighter molds for .45 ACP I could use as well, so sort of wanted a 45 colt specific mold.

jordanka16,

The 255-260 grain bullet is the standard weight for the 45 long Colt, as you are aware. The 270-280 is a good weight. Depending on design, a little more bearing surface but the is plenty on the 260. When I carried the 45 long Colt the 260 was all that was available. I loaded it to around 900 fps and never recovered a bullet from game.

The 270 should be more of the same.

I have since moved away from the 45 long Colt in favor of the 45 ACP. I load to similar ballistics so very much same-same.

My ACP Mountain Gun.

Kevin
