I received my Tyler T-Grips today -
Brian is a great guy - I know because I've spoken to him. Just as friendly as can be and makes a great product.
I got my grips today in the mail after 14 months and I was sent one # 1 grips (J-frame) in brushed aluminum and one # 2 instead of one # 1 and one #3R for my K/L frame.
So . . . if anyone has a # 3R Tyler T-Grip in brushed aluminum for a K/L frame and wants to trade it for a Tyler T-Grip #2, please let me know. Thanks.

Friendly is fine but geez..."you had one job". It's not like you ordered an assortment of 12 different grips here. You ordered 2 and they got one of the right + 14 month wait. Unacceptable on all levels in my book.
Yikes!

Plus the fact that you don't trust him to make it right in a timely manner so you try to resolve it by trading. If Smith & Wesson sent you the wrong gun would you send it back or keep it and then try to trade for the right one? Or if Chevy sent the wrong truck?

I ordered a BK grip adapter a few weeks ago, it arrived in a couple of days, the fit is perfect (K frame), and the price was reasonable. I'll definitely buy from them again.
It appears the T grip is a hobby business.

A pair of mastodons would go nicely with those.

Honestly though, if he sent it back it would disappear and then he'd be left with nothing. Right call in my book by OP.

Well, I texted Brian, he apologized and told me to send it back for exchange - which I just did.
Will report.

If he has any sense at all, the replacement is in the mail already.
14 months is still crazy town.

Tyler T Grip
Going thru parts accessories, bunch of Pachmayer and Mershown grip adapters I found a receipt from Tyler dated 2005. Ordered like 5 T adapters and as to best of my memory arrived in mail a few week later. Obviously something/someone has changed at Tyler and it's hard to believe they are still in business after reading these posts re wait time etc.

Playing with other people's money should not be a hobby when said money is entrusted to expected good service.
When I read on their website 2 to 3 week turn time (this is less than a month ago mind you), I filled out and printed out a form and nearly went to the po to get a money order to send them.
Upon reading all the horror stories I put it in my work at home shredder. LOL. True story.

It sounds like you're a satisfied customer and that's all that really matters. If we start seeing stories of reasonable shipping times, I might be interested in a couple.

I have several T-grips and like them a lot. But I bought them at gun shows or through online vendors. Reviews from people who buy them direct from the manufacturer are almost universally negative. A simple look at their website makes clear that customer service is a foreign concept. Sad.

14 months to deliver a product (their website claims shipping within 3-4 weeks of course) and getting it wrong after that amount of time deserves some smack talk. The 3R isn't exactly an uncommon model for them.
Take a look at what the T grips go for on ebay, for an item that costs between $30-$40 and that is still in production. The company has had a deservedly terrible reputation for some time (though not for the finished products of course, I like the t grips that I have) and I truly wonder how long their business will continue in its current form, and I hope that if they stop their production they can transfer the business to a more competent outfit.

That he may be. However, he might also be violating federal law according to this FTC site.

I bought a few sets of fine sambar stag grips for Colt SAAs from Melvin Tyler and they were only around $35 each and got shipped real fast. Of course, that was in the early 1980s.

I have in the past (10-12 years ago). That's why I never will again.
Actually it only took eight months for my order to show up. I suppose I should consider myself lucky.

Another reminder as to why BK is so good.
My last order from Tyler, a few years back, took months, but I did get my order right.

I don't know why but these T-Grip threads make enjoyable reading.
I was thinking of ordering one, make a thread about it and get some popcorn.
Where will we be when I get it?
Will we still be allowed to have guns?
Will Covid-22 be a thing?
How many masks will we be required to wear?
Will I be a grandfather?
Will a beautiful women steal my heart?
I can't wait to find out

It's the ugliest and dumbest idea for a grip ever. It's actually a grip prosthetic as an attempt to make a terrible grip itself functional.
This is 2021.
There are much better materials for a grip than metal.
There are much better looking options.
There are many, many singular grips one can buy that perform incredibly well.
I can't fathom buying one of these. And that's if ones purchase was handle within the law. I can't fathom anyone buying from this company, but they, unbelievably, do.

Ordered and paid for an adapter for an N-frame three years ago that never arrived. I’ve “done business” with them, or rather, I’ve paid, but never received goods.

The Tyler T Grig is one type of grip adapter that fills in the area behind and under the triggerguard so as to provide a better grip than possible with Magnas or Service stocks. A couple of folks don’t care for them and are rather vocal about it. In my opinion, they work and are part of my preferred grip arrangement.
In the first photograph is a Tyler T Grip paired with a set of Magnas on a S&W Heavy Duty.
The second photograph pairs a Tyler T Grip with S&W Service stocks on a Model 22-4.
You can see how they fill in the area mentioned. A good solution that does not increase the width of the stocks nor the length.

I've ordered some in the past but it was a while ago. I can't recall how long it took, but I was very satisfied. It may be time to order at least a couple for N-Frames. Obviously, I will not be able to say that I didn't know I might be in for a long wait.
I remember threads something like this one complaining about long waits and poor communication with Ford's Refinishing. Some people were extremely upset. Yet Ford's is still highly recommended by members of this forum.
It sounds like doing business with either Tyler or Ford's takes a lot of patience, but at least with Tyler, they only have your money.

All of my "J" frames have Tyler T's paired-up with factory Magna's... I've tried all kinds of grips for the J-frame from the Rubber-Boot kinds to the oversized Altamont's, etc... I have a shoe-box full of ****** Pachmayer's and other lame aftermarket grips substitutes...
What is sleek/non-bulging, doesn't bunch up the cover garment (shirt) as to show I'm wearing a Revolver, gives a very ergonomic, positive purchase grip upon presentation during both drawing and while firing... for me... is the Magna-Tyler T combo. I suspect it's the same for a lot is why the Tyler-T still is a thing. I buy them from vendor's other than Tyler-T themselves and get them in fast order. I also have a pair of them in "N" frames but find that OEM "Combats" carry well so the N frame Tyler Adapters stay in a bag hanging on my peg-board wall above my gun-bench. I save them for when/if someone here or there needs or would like to try a pair of them in quick order as I have a business account with Fed-Ex and UPS.

Can't disagree with a word you said. BUT they ARE "old school" look cool and lable the user as an old school, gruff, no nonsense "Don't mess with me" gunslinger. Kinda like Bill Jordan or Elmer Keith.
Full disclosure-My J frames and 681 wear them and my 64 no dash wears one together with a set of Gresham's service grips in bone.

Unless one is just obsessed with aluminum, bkgrips.com offers same shape adapters but they're molded epoxy. 25 bucks and you'll have them in a few days. I've bought several, fit fine, and as far as design goes I think they beat the Tyler's because they have dual retaining tabs and stay put better.
The problem i always had (back in the 80's when you could get them for a few $$ all day long) was with heavy recoiling guns, they'd twist around until the copper tabs broke off. i had a small boxful i sold as is on ebay years ago. with the additional lower tab, the BK's have not shown this tendency.

I know i've had at least 3 of the BK's, probably more, but i can recall them on a Colt Cobra which got fired with +P's (and yes Colt did rate their aluminum frame guns for +P), 2.5" 19's and 66's, and a 29. My hands aren't all that big and i actually prefer magna's and an adapter over the factory targets. Pretty sure i also used one on a 27.

You have a point, but you probably won't hear from those guys.

I don't think the point is valid.
When there is overwhelming data, and especially when none of that data is even disputed here, why does one need to experience that themselves?
A wise person learns from others' mistakes.
One doesn't personally need to experience a 14 month delay with communication attempts ignored to form their own opinion of that experience.

Thanks.

Great guy not a chance. They are scumbags that have ripped members off here and on other sites waiting over a year and no communication or product received. No response to emails or calls. Tyler grips is the epitomy of a trash company that not sure how is still in business...

I'm surprised that China hasn't knocked these off yet. Or, have they?

Hahaha! China sucks and everything it has made does too... "They have ruined Amazon"... But-Surprised, "they" haven't make Tyler's out of Hiroshima aluminum... yet... BK's suck a "plastic-dugan" too but they have their fans as well...

Where did you get this "overwhelming data"? Off the internet? We all know how reliable that is. Not to mention that people who are disgruntled are far more likely to post about it than those who are satisfied.
There have been numerous positive posts, and even the most negative ones grudgingly admit they eventually got what they ordered. Yes, Mom & Pop shops are less efficient. Throw in the extreme duress the Postal Service is experiencing right now and long delays are not surprising.
Your own words validate my post.
Here is a quote from you in reference to T-Grips (post 31):
"It's the ugliest and dumbest idea for a grip ever. It's actually a grip prosthetic as an attempt to make a terrible grip itself functional."
You are the poster boy for my post, because you don't even want one in the first place!

Thanks for the “heads up” on the BK Grip Adaptor. I ordered one (for my M10-5 3”) and picked it up today at the Post Office and I’m a VERY satisfied customer. I, also will definitely be buying from them again.

I like the T-grip in certain applications. I like it with magnas on a J-frame square butt. Nobody and I mean NOBODY makes a good compact/boot style grip for a SB J-frame.
I also very much like them on N-frames made before target stocks were available. They just look and feel right.
The last time I ordered from Tyler was at least 10 years ago, maybe more. IIRC I ordered 10 T-grips in various sizes. Even then it was something like 6-8 months before I got my order.
I've thought about ordering some since then, but tried to call first just to be sure my order would be filled. Never could get anybody on the phone.
They do pop up on e-bay or GB and such. You'll pay dearly for 'em, but you will get 'em.
