Hello! New to this site and the world of wheel guns in general. I am looking forward to receiving next week the gun I am posting pics of. I came across it and wasn't really planning to purchase at this time, but it had everything I wanted in a revolver so I jumped at it!
It is an ANIB pre-lock 686-5 International DX in 357. I am very new to wheel guns, but experienced with firearms, so I have be doing some research. My understanding is that Non-MIM/pre-lock models ended after 686-4 production? Yet, this piece is a 686-5 with no lock? Do any of the experts here know if this model has a MIM hammer and trigger?
Looking forward to shooting it! I have a .357 lever rifle that I shoot with 158 gr lead RN's over 6 gr of Unique. Should be a pleasant target load out of this pistol!
Thanks for any input!

Being a Dash 5, it will have the MIM trigger and hammer. But don't get hung up on that. I have a 686-5 Mountain Gun made in 1998 with MIM parts and no lock and it has been trouble free after hundreds of rounds of .38 and .357. I especially like the non fluted cylinder on your gun. Enjoy it in good health.

Nice gun, looks pristine, surprised by the good looking grips. Should be a fun load in your revolver. You might also try Trail Boss, gentle rounds and almost impossible to double charge a round. Don

Thanks Don. I'll have a look. I actually have a jug of Trail Boss that I use for light 45-70 loads.

There is a 686-5 International mentioned in a recent thread over at the Ruger Forum. Owner lives in Canada. Discussion there is S&W builds these for export only, so finding one in Nebraska would be rare indeed.

Actually purchased from a gentleman in Louisiana. I heard that they were made for S&W's German Distributor. I just liked the looks of it and the plain black sights.
