I say no +P in an alloy revolver, And I'm no expert. The later 637s and such are clearly marked if acceptable for +P.

Thumbs up

That round butt nickel is pretty!

I'd carry +P in it. No ones going to shoot thousands of rounds of anything out of a Mod37 anyhow (I'm sure someone here will prove me wrong!). Also +P is barely stronger and it will handle 5 rounds in a bad situation proudly.

1992 would put it in the 1 piece folding cover box with the insert.

I buy a new 37 in 1972 and I did shoot some +P's without issue. Shoot 5 rounds at a range and see how YOU handle them. If you can handle it okay, practice with regular 38s and if using for defense, load it with +P.

I haven't tried the product you showed.

I use Hoppes Elite to clean my nickel S&Ws, and I use Flitz to polish them. Very gently!

[QUOTE=geronimo1969;141121391Also is it safe for +p [/QUOTE]

I don't bother too shoot +P. I've posted this before. I shot a doe deer with a M36 and the bullet speed 716 FPS. The bullet went through the near shoulder blade and the meat on the off shoulder and was against the hide. I shot it again in the the hip and it shattered the bone in the near hip and the meat on the off hip and like 1/2 in. reaching the hide. That leads me too believe that a regular .38 Spec. is good enough. Larry

I have a older Model 37 and the frame is cracked on it. The crack is under the barrel where it screws into the frame. The gun was cracked when I purchased it. I did not notice it at the time. I would have returned it except the person who sold me the Model 37 sold it to raise money for his Wife's funeral.

That's a nice gun. Seems like every other day someone on one of these pages has a picture of a nice snub-nosed revolver. I saw a nice-looking one out North of Pittsburgh today in a pretty busy gun shop. I can't remember the price but it wasn't really out of bounds; I just didn't want to spend any money today on a gun I don't need. Now I look on this Forum before bed time and I see your gun, geronimo1969! That's it; now I NEED one!
For my free opinion, I don't see why you would really need to shoot +p in the .38 Special, but for no other reason that you CAN! Maybe that's why I'll lean toward a .357.
Again, that is a sure 'nuff nice gun.
