Was at the LGS and this revolver had come in on consignment. Has an inexpensive rmr style red dot on a rear site removed/mount and Pachmyr grips..so not original but not scary modded. No box.No rear site.Just the revolver as seen.
Shot but not abused. Very smooth action and superb trigger sa and da.
I really like my TRR8 but would like to add an 8 shot SS pre-hole to my "collection".
$1,700 out the door. Won't budge on price.
Im leaning on doing it as I haven't seen any even for sale lately. Not usually a buyer during a price surge..but...

Since I already own several examples of the 8 shot 357 Magnum Model 27/327/627 I may not be a good judge

But a used gun, missing the rear sight, box and paperwork that has a cheap RMR copy mounted on it does not sound like a $1,700 revolver

It most certainly is not a revolver to be "put in a collection"

In your shoes, I would wait out the folks that are profiting from China Virus Crisis Panic Buying and get one down the road that is a more correct original package.

The Model 327 TRR8 is a GREAT revolver and the tensioned multi-piece barrel assembly give it outstanding accuracy. I think you need one of each :)

When I say “collection” I put it in quotes as I’m
Not a serious collector..more like a very enthusiastic gun guy with lots of firearms. However...I prefer “collector” over “gun nut”. Thanks for the advice...but..I do believe I find myself falling off the fence on the buy it side..and it’s after lunch and has stopped raining. Hey..an omen! :)

I say that if it is on your pre-lock wish list, go for it! That money is going to end up evaporating into who knows where. Spend it on this and you'll be able to oogle it forever. The making of money is infinite, the making of these has already ended!

Went ahead and bought it. Lo and behold there is a case included and the red dot is a JPoint..which I have never heard of..but is of high quality with a lifetime warranty and turns on/off automatically when the cover is removed/replaced. Now to head out back and see how it dances...;)

Congratulations on the 627 V-Comp

Look back in the case under the foam, there should be a false muzzle that can be mounted in place of the V-comp

My apologies in misunderstanding you. As a fellow Firearms Enthusiast, I refer to my collectible firearms differently than the firearms in my shooting stable

Is a V-Comp different than a regular 627-3? There are some weights and a wrench under the foam..and a manual. Gun shoots very well. Im pretty happy with my purchase. Thanks for the help guys!

There is no regular 627-3.

627 is the model number
-3 is the engineering revision
V-Comp is a nickname that describes the configuration

Many folks confuse the model number plus engineering revision (627-3) to represent a specific configuration of firearm

The V-comp pictured above is product code 170142 and it is a -5 engineer revision

Under the foam of your box should be the original end label. It will have a 6 digit product code on it that is 170xxx. The product code is the only thing that uniquely identifies a revolver's configuration. And there are even a few exceptions to that rule.

However based on the fact that there are weights under the foam of your case, that is the wrong case for that revolver.

A specific product code (configuration) can be manufactured across multiple engineering revisions. For example product code 101024 began production as a 627 no dash and continued across the -0, -1 and -2 engineering revisions totaling over 5,200 revolvers. Pictured below is a -1 revision

So you are missing the false muzzle from your package .

I believe you are correct about the case as the fired casing is a .44 Magnum. The weights must be for that revolver. The consign or does have a few more revolvers there is no .44 magnum. A 6” 624 and a 4” 625.Non factory wood grips on both and “high”price tags so I didnt persue them.
Interesting about all the variations of the 627 line! This one shoots very well. I have a Trijicon RMR that will fit this base snd will swap it on and send the other in for repair.
I’m expecting good results. This seems to be a nice .357 platform for heavy target use. It likes concrete blocks. :)y

I loved my V-Comp because I like a heavy gun. Mine was super accurate but I traded it in on a 929. One of my mistakes over the years.

The J-Point is a great sight and you should have no troubles with it. I like the instant on feature.

Get your moon clips from TKCustom.com. Tom has been very good to me over the years.

You already had a frame that you liked, probably a trigger that had already been re-worked for you.

You could have had a second cylinder chambered for 9MM

My V-comp above along with my semi pinto 627 pictured below both left the Factory as 357 Magnums.

Each of them now has a second cylinder chambered for 9x23 Winchester. That allows me to shoot all the shorter cartridges including 38 SUPER, 38 ACP, 356TSW, 9x21, 9MM Parabellum, 380 ACP and more
