I found a Model 65-5 with 3" barrel. Good overall condition and mechanically sound. Asking $450. Guy isn't know to negotiate too much, may come down about $25. Thoughts?

My personal opinion, which generally is not worth very much, is that it is priced at top end. It needs to have box, papers, and be like new for that amounth.

This guy tends to price everything very high. I did however, purchase a 2.5" no dash Model 66 NIB with tools and papers for $400 OTD a couple of years ago.

Wait around for the next one..you will probably be at least 5 years older and the price will be 50% more on a good day..patience is a virtue..except when you are buying a gun...all5x

In some parts of the country that might be considered too high. Around my part of the country that price might be a little high but not unusual. How many of these do you see around your neck of the woods? ... and how long till the next one shows up? If it's in good mechanical condition, I would definitely try a reduced cash offer - and go for it. They're really very practical guns for CCW, home defense, or just plain shooting.

Keep us posted on the outcome & good luck!

Jerry

By the time I have a 3" barrel fitted to my 4" 65 I will have that much into it. Granted, it is the 65-LS barrel, but that's what I wanted and I couldn't find a 65-LS anywhere nearby.

It might be a little high, but they don't exactly grow on trees. See if he'll haggle a little and go for it.

That's right in line with what I see around here.
K frames in average condition go for $350-400. I am told that they go for more on the W. Coast for some reason.
