Default Model 15-5 with 6” barrel

There is a model 15-5 with a 6” barrel a friend has, made mid 80’s. Product code 100411. Were there a lot of them made? Never heard of this barrel length in a model 15. Any idea on value. Looks in great shape, possibly unfired. When I looked it up in the SCSW, there was a 8” barrel made also. Thanks, Larry

After the model 14 was discontinued they were replaced by the model 15; I think most of them were -5s and -6s, mostly with 6" heavy wide rib barrels.

I have the 4" version. -6, I believe. 1989 ship date, IIRC.

Seems to not be a big run of guns, kinda rare? Has anyone else seen one?

Murphy, there were 14-5, -6 and I have a -7. Friends Gun is a -5 model 15. Larry

More likely a mis-stamp than any other explanation.

Yes, but the traditional (non-full lug) model 14 was replaced by the model 15. Looks like a non-pinned barrel K-38 Masterpiece/model 14, except stamped MOD 15-5 (or 6).

Per the SCSW:

(model) 15-5 1986 Introduction of 6" and 8 3/8" barrel

15-6 1988 Discontinue 8 3/8" and 2" barrel

1992 Discontinue 6" barrel, blue finish only

I have a 6” Model 15 coming in this week. It will be the second one I have owned. I sold the first one (silly me), but got lucky and found another one. I’ll post pics later this week. My first one was extremely accurate, however the blueing and finish was definitely not on par with my older Model 14’s and 17’s.
