Yep that is the deal!
It looks just like my 4" 586 no dash. Mine never even went back for the modification, how about yours?

Pretty gun! I'm still shooting my 686 no dash from the same vintage.

The early 581/586 L frame series are the best of the bunch. Any other iteration is a very distant second place.

I have owned this for a while. Traded into it with another Forum Member. 1983, 586 with no M stamp. I do have the original stocks for it. It doesn't get out much. Bob

I have a 4 in. nickel no dash 586. I bought it when they first came out. Probably hasn't been shot over 200 times. I never cared much for the feel of it with that useless full lug barrel. Haven't shot it in years. Much prefering my K & N .357's. No it's not for sale. It now just occupys a spot here.

@rogerwnuss, That may have been a bad deal. I bet that 330 could be worth as much as $6000 today.

Believe me, I know......things didn't start to go crazy til the mid nineties when every Japanese industrialist decided to collect vintage American guitars. A 1978 Les Paul Deluxe that was 600 bucks in '93 was about 1300 by '97.....

My 6" ND has the partridge front sight.
The added target hammer perked it up!

If you have another ES-330, I have a 586-3 I’ll go even up on with ya. Heck, I might even kick in another hundo. 🤪
I applaud your good taste, both in guns and guitars.

Lol...... you'd do that for me?
Dude, I could pay for my house with the old Gibsons and Fenders I pissed away, starting in highschool.....
And the old Colt and Smiths too, probably.....never one to look ahead, when I tired of something and came across something else that blew my skirt up, there ya go.....

I have owned several excellent S&Ws over the years.
The 586 is my favorite of all of them. It is the best shooter of all of the ones that I have owned.

I've had my 4" 686 no dash since February 12, 1986, has the "M" stamp, and with the box and papers. It will be the last one to go. I did some tinkering with the action, it's smooth as silk.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

I have a 6" 586 no dash. It was the first one to hit town back in the early 80s. Darn thing wouldn't hit squat! Shot low and left regardless of ammo or sight settings. Sent it back to the factory twice. The second time I included a letter saying it was nothing more than an expensive paperweight.
They replaced the barrel and went completely through the gun. This time they got it right.
I can't even guess how many rounds have been through this gun since then. Its the best .357 I own.
BTW: this was before the recall, so no "M" stamp either.

Hi all,
I love everyone pics and comments but wanted to pass a quick update.
I had finally sent my 586 in for the trigger upgrade since, well I ran out of primers to make 357 reloads. So I sent it in they gave it a wipe down tighten some screws and sent it back after I paid $90 for gunsmith and shipping. I am in Canada so it went to wolverine supplies and I told them I wanted the trigger upgrade but no luck????
Just passing it on for any one who may be thinking the same.

Nice guns. I have 4" and 6" no dash 586's without the M mod. The 6" came with box, papers and sales receipt. The guns are about 500 apart.
