Default MIM metal?

Does anyone know what kind of metal is used in making MIM parts? Is it stainless steel, carbon steel, or something else?

MIM is just the process, pretty much any metal can be used to fill the mold. As far as I know, with S&W firearms, if a MIM part is black, then it is carbon steel. If it is silver, it is stainless steel. I am not aware of S&W applying flash chrome to their MIM parts.
