The Gun shop I work at got in two special runs of 6 inch 686-5's. The day before the they came in the S&W Rep for our area stopped in a showed us some goodies. He had pics of this run of 686-5. Didn't pay much attention to the pics as his binder had cool stuff in it and we had lots of questions for him. The buyer for the shop said we ordered two of these 686-5.
Well next day they come in. As I opened the box to check them out I was very surpised to see no lock!! He is a poor pic from my cell phone:

Some more info for you all:

-Unfluted clyinder.
-Millet type sights.
-Bear tracks on cylinder and grizzle bear head on side plate.
-Combat hammer and smooth trigger.
-Round butt.
-Finger grove and checked grips.
-Not so cool looking gold on all controls and on all of the clyinder.

I was told that only 250 of these were made for one of distributors CSI Inc. I did have the product code and other info written down from the label but lost it. When I go to work Monday I'll get it for your info.

Nice gun. Would be better without the gold accents and bear tracks on cylinder and grizzly bear head on side plate.

They must be clearing out some old frames, if those are new from the factory....

Very intersting.

The lock started with the -6 Engineering change for the M686 line.
