Default S&W Model 640 PRO(#178044) scarcity

I live in Louisville, KY and always try to do business within my county first. Every area FFL I've called this week indicated they cannot order this revolver from any of several of their major suppliers now and don't know when they can. Is it no longer being produced? If it is, about how long are these lapses in production/availability? I could order online, but prefer not to. Too, I had hoped to use the S&W rebate offer for purchase of this revolver good to April 30, 2019. Suggestions and advice appreciated! Thanks in advance to all who respond. Great forum!!

1. Performance Center(R) Pro Series(R) Model 640 | Smith & Wesson
The subject model is still being produced. S&W seems to manufacture various SKUs/models in batches, but may only do so once or twice per year.

2. You might end up waiting only a week or it could be several months.

3. Advice is to order online/Gunbroker. You could then still use your rebate if ordering a brand new 178044. Also, you might as well list yourself on galleryofguns.com for its "stockwatch" system to alert you when this model becomes available. Note, GalleryofGuns may only get a few in and that number could sell out in a couple of days or hours, if not minutes.

This model is my recommendation over the newer Kimber K6S or Colt Cobra models as it's more of a proven gun right now. The K6S and Cobra may be fine firearms, but haven't yet had as much time or rounds to report so far.

Fellow put one up for sale locally tonight. He’d bought it new and only ran about 40 rounds thru it. He needed cash and it sold in just a few minutes. That’s what I get for putting down my iPad for dinner.

Grabagun has them in stock for $663.00, I always look there 1st because they are usually the lowest on new revolvers. I never had a problem with them and I like that model also but already own a 640, can't see having 2.
