Just a question for safety consideration……can the Governor shoot the American Tactical brand 410 gauge 2 1/2” shotgun 1/4 oz. rifled hollow point slug 1550 fps? Is this round unsafe to use in the Governor? I am concerned about cylinder pressure and the gun exploding. Basically, is this ammo ok to use safely without damaging the revolver or oneself? Thanks!

I've put a box of 25 thru mine. No issues. Shouldn't be a problem.

Agree with the above, I've put various 410s through mine with nary an issue.

Shouldn't be a problem to shoot them, I'd like to ask why you would choose that option though for a Governor? Not being critical, just curious.

I chose this particular 410 gauge ammo because it was available, the price was in my budget and it had slugs which can act as defensive ammo. As you likely well know, 410 gauge 2 1/2” ammo is almost impossible to find. So I ordered online and the American Tactical brand seemed ok for the reasons mentioned. Would you recommend something else? Or do you believe there is something more appropriate? Thanks!

I don't really know anything about the 410 slugs but it seems to me that a 110 grain 45 caliber slug at perhaps 1200 fps is a poor stopper compared to a 45 Colt 250 grain SWC at perhaps 850 fps. Wonder about the accuracy too but have to admit I've never fired them in my Governor. I usually carry three 410 #6s (or 7.5 or 8s) and three 250 grain 45 Colt SWC or whatever other 45 Colts I've loaded. Around the ranch I'm then ready for skunks, snakes whatever varmints appear and the occasional need to finish a pig or other larger game. Probably effective for the two legged variety of varmints too if the unlikely need arrived.

Aren't those 410 slugs about $40 for 25? Quite a bit more expensive than hand loaded 45 Colt or factory for that matter.

The slugs may work great, I just hadn't thought about using them.

a 410 round, Federal, has 3 flat discs and several BB 's. out of a full choke shotgun @ 10 yds. holds a good group. i can look up the series if you would like.
