This is embarrasing. My 340pd scandium is carried in an Uncle Mikes pocket liner and normaly is kept in my glove box. Apparently in this summer's record heat (74 days over 100F) the foam in this pocket liner type holster disintegrated and got into every nook and cranny on the revolver. It is a mess.

Beside Gun Scrubber what other gun 'washes' are sfe on this finish. I normally use breke cleaner on SS and Acetone on blued guns so I have both. Are either safe? I also have paint thinner and 'fuel' and rubbing alcohol.

Thans for suggestions.

Electronic Contact cleaner is good. Any gun spray cleaner that is plastic safe. No ammonia. It's a painted aluminum frame with a titanium cylinder so treat it as such. Search this forum for cleaning Ti guns. Tons of info. The face of the cylinder is what to worry about. Never clean the cylinder with anything but a toothbrush.

Give WD 40 a try. It's really good at removing gunk. Three days ago I had an aluminum case that many years ago I had glued on a rubber/foam type mat for carrying on a motorcycle luggage rack. I ripped most of the mat off, leaving some foam and a lot of "Goop" brand glue.

Then I used a razor blade, chisel and wood alcohol. Nothing. Next up was acetone. A dangerous amount in a basement workshop. Still nothing. I went out for fresh air and it came to me, WD 40.

I soaked the case with WD, waited a couple of minutes and wiped most of the slop off. One more try and it was clean. Used a rag with alcohol to clean off the remaining oil, then painted the case. It looks great.
