As noted earlier, a 23-ounce M649 is no more difficult to carry than a 16-ounce M642, which explains why I sold my 642.

I'll be buying a .32 H&R simply to show the bean counters that the H&R will sell. I want a K frame in .32 H&r pretty badly so whatever I can do to help the cause is worth it. I'd instantly buy two or three K32's if they were produced.

My "drug dealer" (yes, guns are as addictive as crack cocaine) is going to try to get a 432 for me.

Woo Hoo fellows! I just paid my local dealer for my new 632UC and it ships today and I can pick it up this Saturday or Monday.
And to make this deal even sweeter a got it for $739.00! ($790 with taxes)
My dealer says that with the MSRP of $759 and the profit margin is only 22% for the dealer, if this is true, don’t expect any deep discounts.
In addition, I have four other gun shops that I checked for availability for the new 632UC and only one had a distributor that had ONE! Just one! And the only reason I got it was because my dealer put it on the wish list a month ago and got a call and had first option for just one! Lucky me!
My other local shops were saying they might be getting some in later this year.
Seems like your gonna have to be lucky or pay big bucks to get one?

I think <hope> you're wrong about that last comment. S&W did say that they would be producing these as long as there was demand for them, so it's my thought that it's just taking a bit to get production ramped up.
It's now been a month since getting on my LGS's waiting list for a 432 (I'm first in line) and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it takes a few more before the order is filled. Guess we'll see.

Just talked to my FFL on my 432. He stated that they will be shipping, but due to several having bad front sights, they are having to check them all before they go out.
Very interesting as a member here reported a bad sight.

So, I stopped by a local gun shop on the way to the range today. I hadn't been in there in a while and they often have some interesting used guns. I was also hoping there might be one of the new 442/642/432/632UL guns for me to check out. They didn't have any of those.
What they did have was a well loved 332-1 Airlite in .32 H&R Mag. The finish is pretty worn, it was obviously someone's carry gun. However, the barrel and chambers looked perfect and lockup was tight. It was also priced at less than half of what these guns have been going for used recently ($429 plus tax). So, I walked out the door with it.
I had some .32 H&R Mag ammo at home, but of course I didn't have it with me. It was the only .32 H&R gun at the shop and they didn't have any .32 H&R or .32 Long ammo. I called Mace Sports (also on the way to my range) and the guy I talked to didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about. After I told him several times what ammo I was looking for he put me on hold. Then came back and said "we don't have anything like that." That led me to believe he didn't know what he was looking for, but I decided not to waste time stopping there. So, I had to drive back home and get the ammo (luckily I found it quickly, I haven't had a gun to shoot it in for a couple years).
I shot 75 or 80 rounds mixed between some Georgia Arms 85 grain SJHP I have had hanging around since around 2010 and my own .32 handloads with 100 grain RNFP bullets. Granted, the gun weighs almost nothing, but it has a lot more recoil than I remember from .32 H&R. It was still more pleasant than .38 Special in an Airweight.
The gun was printing a couple of inches high at 12 yards, but closer in seemed to be right on. Definitely good enough for what it is intended for. The finish doesn't bother me, I'll be carrying the thing anyway. After my range visit (which was cut short due to my trip back to the house for ammo) I loaded it with some of the remaining Georgia Arms ammo, put it in my 1995 vintage Kramer pocket holster (which I have been using to carry J-frames on and off since 1995), and dropped it in my pocket. It doesn't weigh much more than my wallet.
Excuse the soot, I hadn't cleaned it yet when I took the pictures after the range trip. This is not a gun I would have bought on Gunbroker based on its appearance. However, being able to inspect it in person convinced me all the wear was cosmetic only.
Now I am definitely going to need a 432UL to match it.

I assume the correct use of the XS sight is to index the circular front sight with the rounded lower portion of the rear sight slot, and then the POI will be at the top of the front sight (for the appropriate round)? Or do you just align the top of the round sight and the tops of the rear sight and the POI will be at the top of the front sight? Or do both methods end up being the essentially the same?

Can't they see this before they are ever shipped? It takes forever for a tritium sight to go dead, so they should be more on top of things than they are.

They can go dead fast if cracked or have a bad seal. SOUNDS like a manufacturing flaw and a bad batch of sights.

The explanation I'd heard from guys more in the know was improper installation cracking the seal on the tritium vials.
It still sounds strange since it's not like these could be pounded in to a dovetail from the side like semi-auto pistol sights. Perhaps vibration from drilling the cross pin hole did it.

It was improper installation from one person. Call S&W and get it warrantied. This was a single issue and not an X/S problem and was only present in the first .38’s shipped.

Nice snag!
I'd take two at that price.
Enclosed hammer, aluminum alloy frame, and titanium cylinder = the about the perfect 38 special pocket gun.

I ordered a 432UC last week through one of my local shops. She called me yesterday to say that it is on the way and that it should be in on Tuesday.
$669 plus tax and background.

I'm on waitlists at a few of my local shops for one to come in. Still torn if I'm going to go for the 632 or 432. I hope VZ offers the high-horn grips separately at some point, because I'd like the more gray grips on the 432 over the red ones that come with it.

I really like the concept for these revolvers, but it is upsetting that the only ones for sale are $1300 on the web.
Maybe this is evidence that this concept has legs, but almost double retail is ridiculous.

I think there was a post, or mention in a video, that if they sold well, there could be more on the market. I honestly think people are pricing them just like the original ones from the early 2000's hoping people are either pay up, or don't realize that there could be a decent number of them added to the market.

The opportunists are doing exactly as you described. S&W has stated that they will continue making these models as long as there is demand for them, and have also hinted that there will be more models coming later that will be inspired by these. S&W may just be waking up to consumer demand...finally.

Simple supply and demand.
While the supply is short, "early adopters" (a.k.a. people who REALLY want to own the latest and greatest RIGHT NOW - whether it is for instant gratification or for bragging rights, or whatever else motivates them) will pay a premium for that privilege.
This is simple econ101 principles.
A year or two from now, a significant enough segment of the buyers who really want one will already have one, and sales will drop off - to the point that these ridiculous prices will also drop down until the 32 H&R's are comparable to the more pedestrian J-frames chambered for 5 rounds of 38 special.
Basically, the novelty will have worn off, and everyone will be competing to buy the next shiny new piece of hardware.
The only potential fly in that ointment that I see will be if S&W decides to limit production to keep them "scarce". If they choose that market strategy then all bets are off - price-wise.
FWIW, S&W benefits more from selling them in volume. They aren't the ones marking them up to ridiculous prices - the resellers are the ones who benefit from "scarcity" so it is in S&W's best interest to produce as many of them as they can sell.
JMO...

Got mine! Dealer called this afternoon and said they got one in. Just the one I wanted too. Originally loved the grips but I’m wondering about some slightly longer ones for a little more purchase with my pinky. Trigger is much better than any stock J frame I’ve ever owned. Night sight is good. Cracked it open to make sure it had lube and all the manufacturing debris was cleaned out. Probably the least amount of grit I’ve seen too. Can’t wait to shoot it tomorrow.

Using ammoseek.com and can find 2 pages of 32 H&R Mag in the 25 to 30 dollar mark, so finding ammo is not a problem

Got a chance to shoot today. This thing can shoot! Much more accurate than expected. Having never shot .32 H&R Mag before I was pleasantly surprised by the level of recoil. Again, much better than the .38 J frames I’ve owned in the past. Might have to get different grips though. As I suspected, I need a little bit longer grip for my pinkie.

You have to have an FFL to order from Lipsey’s.
There are two main types of distribution in the firearms world. The first and by far the most common is the two-tier system where the manufacturer sells to its distributors, who in turn sell to dealers. The consumer buys from the dealer.
The second type is where the manufacturer takes individual orders from consumers, who then pay the manufacturer, after which the manufacturer ships to a licensed dealer near the purchaser where the purchaser goes to comply with paperwork and background check requirements.
There are exceptions. For example, even manufacturers who sell through distributors often handle government contracts differently by selling directly to the government or agency.
The big firearms companies use the two-tier system. For ordinary commercial sales, the following handgun companies that sell only to distributors come to mind: Beretta, Colt, CZ, FN, Glock, HK, Kel-Tec, Kahr,, Ruger, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and Walther. There are others.
And, just to clear up some other confusion that I see in a great deal of postings, sometimes more than one distributor will join forces together to get enough orders to cause a manufacturer to do a custom run of handguns. One such buying group is known as TALO.
The TALO group of distributors each obtain the number of units of the custom buy and sell to their dealers. Thus, for your local FFL to obtain a non-cataloged model purchased by the TALO group, the dealer must have an account with a distributor who is part of the TALO group.
Sorry for the length of this post, but hopefully, this clears up issues about the way the industry works.

IF they ever did it - probably a very big if - they should make it in 327 Federal so it could go up to low 357 Magnum energies for anybody who wanted it to, but still take powder puff tackdriving 32 Long wadcutters, and everything 32 in between. A 3" or longer K will fully extract a 327 Fed case - just barely, but still . . .. Maybe even make it a 7 shooter - a K frame cylinder is exactly the same diameter as the one in a Ruger Single 7 in 327 Fed.

You get an extra round in the J-frame cylinder if you opt for 32. LuckyGunner has a good, older video on some advantages of 32 in a snub too. I look forward on their thoughts on these Lipsey's guns when they can get their hands on one.

Most people shoot the 9mm significantly better than the 45 ACP. 38 Special better than 357 Magnum. Of course that is why 22 Long Rifle is so popular.
Any 32 is easier than a 38.

As a cop I carried the Colt Detective Special as my BUG for that extra round. Also a much nicer revolver than a J Frame.
The cartridge has mostly fallen out of use due to smaller revolvers chambered in .38 Special being more effective for self-defense.*

They *are* making it in .38 Special as well. Two models each; 642UC and 442UC in .38 Spl, and 632UC and 432UC in .32 H&R Mag.
