Have you ever come [----] This close to buying a gun and just say..you know this is not what I really want. Well....I did it for the first time today. I usually do not buy guns on impulse due to the amount of money I am spending. I have been doing research for the past month on 10mm's. I have been wanting one for a while now. I went today to buy a Glock 20 10mm. I started the paperwork and the guy said that it would be $530 out the door with 3 mags and night sights. I said sounds good. As he was finishing up the paperwork I felt a little pit in my stomach that said. I dont think you will be happy with this. I have been eyeing several revolvers about the same price. I looked at the guy and said. "Man I hate to do this to you but I am going to have to change my mind and not get the gun. Sorry for wasting your time." I went out to my truck and my wife was sitting inside the truck waiting on me. She said where is your gun. I told her it just did not feel right. She was shocked. I told her I just would not be happy with that thing over a revolver..... EVER HAPPEN TO YOU???

I am a huge revolver fan. I do have 3 glocks I love them but I only carry one full time. That is my Glock 22 issued to me as my duty weapon. All my other guns are revolvers. I carry a S&W 625 as my back up gun. I just love revolvers. I guess I will have to save a little longer and get a 610 or get a different revolver.

As a result of my not buying the above gun I just purchased a 2.5" 686 for around the same amount. It was ment to be, Or I really just did not want to buy another Glock and just add to my beautiful revolver collection. Now I have 2 mode 686 with 2.5" barrels.

Sounds like it was meant to be, you have a great revolver that you probably wouldn't have if you had bought the Glock.

Always go with your gut.

I hear you loud and clear, PanamaJack. I have two loves when it comes to handguns. Sigs and S&W revolvers. I go back and forth with limited funds to work with. A couple years ago I traded in a beautiful 66-2.5" for a Sig 226. Then, a couple months ago, I decided to go with my first love and get back to k & L frame Smiths. so I traded that 226 for a 686-6". Now I'm looking at my CCW, a sig 239-.40, and wanting a 686-2.5". I've had and sold 2 of them over the years... I bought that Sig when I went in for a snubby. The Sig was available the S&W wasn't. My wife says it's because I'm only happy with the next gun, not the guns I have. Nah, says I. It's these damn forums that put me in the company of other "next gun guys"

Agreed. Always go with your gut feeling. It appears that you made the right choice, as you are obviously happy with the 686.

I don't like it when I am on the fence about something, and the gun dealer (much like a car salesman) tries to get you to make a "hurry up" decision. I know one gunshop that does this. You look at and handle a gun for more than 10 seconds, and they are in your face with the paperwork. I browse that shop every now and then, because there are often some good consignment guns available, but I prefer to shop elsewhere.

I am at the point where I know that hollow feeling that one gets in the pit of the stomach when really not sure about a purchase. Whenever I recognize that feeling, I put the gun down, walk away, and think on it for a day or two. I never end up going back for the item. I have had buyers remorse a few times from making a hasty purchase in the past. That doesn't happen anymore.

A 10mm Glock may appear one day in the future, and you will just know that the time is right. That is when you will get it!

I get the same feeling when I am about to drive near or by a gun shop that I know of...
I try to just drive by most of the time,, On occasion I have to stop, Seems like something is calling for me.. Many times leave empty handed,
You did good!

Funny I just did the same thing. Saw this model 17 that I,ve been wanting , in my gut I felt the price was too high yet you know , when you want it , you want it. Talked to a friend that has dealt guns for years and asked about the shop in question and he flat told me what he thought (not good). They low balled me on a gun I wanted to trade with some cash, wanted to give me what they sold the last one for, that has to make one think, why would you give me the same price you sold one for???? After a couple of days I feel good I passed. The right one will come along sooner or later, seems like you made the right decision!!!
