A pre-MIM M586 snubby?? I would not have left the store without it.

While some would take issue shooting a gun that rare, if it's already been shot, who cares? I would be satisfied with keeping it .38 spl, but there are plenty of 586 cylinders out there cheap enough if you wanted to convert it to .357...

That’s a buy to me…more so in .38. Was not aware of the scarcity of.357, but I do have its 6” Brazilian sibling, so I knew how uncommon the short bbl .38 was.

I think the OP knew it was a rare gun and wanted to make some forum members squirm.
And when he found out a 38 special in that configuration is even more rare, well, that was the cherry topper.
Either way, good job OP! Would you folks get excited for a 95% 586-5 snub for 0? See #55

I would buy it no questions asked at that price. I have been a smith and wesson buyer for 30 years and NEVER even saw one in the wild. A forum member who posted pics earlier in this thread was kind enough to sell me one at a fair price in great condition with all the goodies (thanks Engineer1911). I have not shot it but did buy a nice set of Culina presentation grade burl grips for her. She deserved a nice set of shoes.

They are rare and they rarely come to market. Guys were lined up for the one I bought.

Since I am not a true "collector" of S&W revolvers like many of you folks, I passed on the opportunity and provided contact info to a forum member who first PM'd me for sloppy seconds. He completed the purchase today. Thanks to all who responded!
