29-3 questions
Hi All,
Just picked up this mint 29-3 6 inch and was wondering if this could have come with the Pachmayr grips that it's wearing?
I have another 29-3 with wood grips.
I like the wood grips better as I have large hands.
Any suggestions where I can find some?
Also a member in another post mentioned his dash 3 was prior to the three letter prefix. Both of mine have the three letters. Can the age be determined by the prefix?
My 29-3 8 3/8" is AJB and the 29-3 6" is BAE.
Thanks

No, a 6-inch barreled 29-3 would have left the factory with S&W target stocks.

ON Finding Grips
I go to small shops and G Shows. You can never predict what will show up. The last K Frame Football targets I got were on a show table and some guy was trying to talk the owner to lower than 40$ for them. I interrupted by peeling out two 20's, picked up my new grips, walked away. Another time some 18 years ago I found some N Frame foot ball targets in a cardboard box at another show, got them for 25$ even tho they were "incorrect for my" 657-2 I was happy. Fast forward to this decade I scored locally a 28-2 with "incorrect" cutout N targets and an easy swap with the 657 made things muy Joe Toe.

According to S&W4th edition AJB is 1985. BAE isn't listed, could be BAF which is 1988.
