Model 60-3 with jewel case
I picked up this Ladysmith 60-3 from a private sale for $500 and was scouring the web for the Ladysmith rug case when I came across this on eBay. It’s a jewel case that came with all the papers and lock and keys and it’s in amazing condition for only $50!! I think my 60-3 would have come with the maroon plastic case which I saw going for $200 on eBay. How rare are these jewel cases and what year did they start offering it? Also was this the standard case for the model 60 Ladysmith when it came out or was this an upgrade? Any info on the case and my model 60-3 lady would be most appreciated.

You're correct. Your Lady Smith Model 60-3 came in a burgundy
plastic case. S&W used them through 1991.
Next came the Bob Allen gun rug (Lady Smith Model 60-7).
I believe the jewel case began with the Lady Smith Model 60-9,
built on the J-magnum frame beginning in 1996.

Thanks Cowboy that really helps a lot and it makes sense when I see the outline for the 357 model 60. Even though it’s not period I’m gonna keep it in that case over the plastic maroon one cause it look sexy AF! Love this forum

Damn that’s a gorgeous piece. I’d love to find the 3” model 65 Ladysmith as a companion.

Nice find OP.
My 60-7 came with the rug. Found her last year for $550.
