Blued and nickel - Chrome moly

Stainless steel - stainless steel

I don't know about S&W specifically. Most blue/nickel guns have been made of 4140 for a long time. Most stainless steel ones are 410 and/or 416. There are many exceptions to these in the gun world.

I do not know that S&W has ever divulged the exact steel alloys they use.

I once tried to get that answer from Perazzi shotguns. All they would answer was " best quality gun steel. " That cost them the sale of a gun. For 6K or so. I want to know what I am buying
