Smith & Wesson Model 10 Value?
I own a Smith and Wesson model 10, blue steel, 3” barrel, 6 shot, round butt, 38 special revolver. It comes with all the factory paperwork, unopened cleaning kit, and box. Serial number prefix 17Dxxxx. Value of same in today’s market. Thanks Pete.
This revolver is in excellent condition with slight bluing wear at the muzzle. Both pair of grips, factory and Smith & Wesson combat, are in excellent shape too.

Some will (always) disagree but the original box, papers and cleaning kit certainly add to its value. Nice package — but you did not describe the condition of the revolver itself or the condition of its wood stocks.
Well-used but totally functional? Maybe $450. Dead mint and appears “new old stock” then maybe $650 or so?

I can’t claim to know what the “market value” of this gun is, but I do know that if I came across a 3” Model 10 in good shooting order for $650 I probably wouldn’t even try to negotiate; I’d just hand the guy my money.
This is one of those guns that just seems to elude me.

A large percentage of "what is my gun" posts here have a barrel length an inch too short since the poster measures from the frame forward and not the forcing cone. I'm inclined to believe this poster has an actual 3" since he has the original box...but pictures are always nice to make sure.

I could be mistaken but he says it is a RB frame which, for a gun from ~1983 seems to point towards a less than 4-inch barrel. If it were a 1990’s example than lots of the 4-inch guns did indeed have RB frames.

Thanks for the pics. Those combat stocks are worth a pretty penny on their own. Seems like an odd bird with the Model 13 in full swing at that time, I imagine the vast majority of 3" K frames were .357s when yours was produced.

That model 10 in that pictured package (w/combats)
would table at $700-750 in my area.

3" K-frames fetch a premium, and especially in that nice of shape, with box and papers, and those lovely factory combats. North of $700 for sure. I don't think I'd be able to pass that package up if it were priced south of $900 given the limited selection in my local market.

Factory 3 inch Model 10's are pretty scarce items and highly sought after by collectors and those who like to carry K-frame 38 Specials. If it were NIB, I'd say $1000, but since it does have visible signs of wear, I'd say around $800 in today's market.
