Default Replacing Combats an a 24-3

My recent pick up Lew Horton has those N round butt combats and they just don't fit my hand. Any ideas for replacements?

It would help if you specified ; too small, too big for your hand!

This N frame came to me with modified combats.

I swapped them for Magnas and a grip adapter.

I probably should have provided more detail. It's the finger grooves that don't fit. I have a couple pair of Kim Ahrends that Kim custom made for me years ago from an outline of my hand. They fit perfectly but they are for the N frame square butt.

These are Ahrends round to square butt grips that I modified. They are very comfortable for me.

Get on the list for a set of Culinas. The difference is slight but may be what the Dr ordered. I have two pair on a 3" 29-3 & a 629-6. They feel good & look good too.

Like StrawHat suggested ( post #3 ) ... Magnas and a grip adapter are one of the best set ups for N-frame shooting and concealability .
That set up was on the model 58 S&W in my avatar (from retired police officer ) untill I had Kim Ahrend make some Retro-Combats in dark red Cocobolo ... just for good looks and I wanted to keep the factory Magna's and the aluminum grip adapter safely put away ...
those grips and the adapter got pricey and hard to find !
I still enjoy shooting the 41 Magnum .

I sure do miss kim's great grips ...
he knew how to make them !

The finger grooves on Ahrends and Hogue grips fit me well.
For me, Badger Grips fit me the worst. The finger grooves may fit Sasquatch, but not me.

My 24-3 still wears her factory combats, which fit “ok”

Hogue makes quite a variety of hardwood grips for round butt N-frame revolvers, including a version without fingergrooves. The link below takes you to their website and N-round offerings.

N-Frame Round Butt - Exotic Hardwood Grips - N-Frame Revolvers - Smith & Wesson - Handgun Grips - Hogue Products

Altamont makes some magna style grips for n-round frames and they are affordable, but are not as nice as some others.

Default KB stocks

These are Keith Brown "hideout" stocks he made for me about 10-12 years ago. The combats did not work for me either.

Default Keep the Original Grips to maintain maximum resale value

Just an added note to say that keeping the original grips for your Model 24-3 will insure you receive maximum value for your gun if you ever decide to sell. Original S&W combat grips are very pricey and it might cost $250-300 or more to replace them.

These are great guns and congratulations on your acquisition are in order.

I second these. I absolutely hate the factory combats and was using the Pach Compac grips until I discovered Keith’s hideout I found second hand. I like them so much I kept them after I sold my 3” 24 lol. I’ll eventually get another 624, shooter grade, and put them on it
