29-3 ammo
Hate to beat a dead horse here but what’s everyone’s opinion on using factory 44 mag ammo in a 29-3. You hear a lot of conflicting things. Thanks.

There should be no problem running factory ammo thru it - IMO. If you shoot a lot your wrist and your wallet will tell you when to take a pause!😍😍

I would have no idea where you would hear that factory ammunition is no good for any Model 29, that is exactly what they are made to shoot!

That’s a nice 44!
It going to be a beast with those Magnas though…

I had three 29-3s a four, a six and a 8 3/8 inch. Great guns but the downside with any used Magnum Revolver did the Previous Owner ran really Hot Loads in it.

CWH - No the charge holes are not numbered and yes the action very smooth. No box or papers.
SGT - no evidence of heavy loads. No flame cutting. Nice and tight.
LuvSmiths - Magnas didn’t come with gun I’m just refinishing them. I swapped out the Pachmayr Grippers as they were dried out and hard.

You should be fine with ammo loaded with bullets not exceeding 250 grains. The pre-endurance package Model 29 and 629 revolvers have problems with full power loads using bullets heavier than 250 grains. Given that it is a 4 inch barreled Model 29, you may find yourself shooting mostly 44 Special or 44 Magnum reloads that are between 44 Special and full power 44 Magnum velocity.
