Short Barrelled .22 LR
What model .22 LR S&W were available in barrel lengths shorter than 4”? Was there ever a K frame shorter than 4”? I know nothing about J frames. I’m going to assume thats were I would need to look, no?

Interesting question, other than J frames (M34/M63) none come to mind. The M43 was in 3 1/4 and the 317 is available in 3 if I remember correctly. Someone will be along to add to these I'm sure.

The 317 was available in 2" as well as 3". Both carried 8 rounds
The model 34 and the early Model 63 were availble as a 6 shot 2" configuration
I turned one of my Model 34s into a convertible by chambering a second cylinder for twenty two Magnum
The current generation model 63 is offered in a 3" barrel as an 8 shooter but I cannot find a photo of mine

How about this cute little guy? An S&W 61-3. I have a -2 also. Don't know why. I couldn't resist. It happens a LOT. Never fired either one.

The tiny M frame, .22 Hand Ejector, aka "Ladysmith". 1st model was available in 2 1/4", 3" or 3 1/2" barrel. 2nd model in 3" or 3 1/2". 3rd model in 2 1/4", 3", 3 1/2" or 6" barrel length. Here's a 3rd model with 3 1/2" barrel, and a pic of it sandwiched between two N-frames for perspective.

The .22 Mag Model 51 was made in a 3 1/2" round butt model but SCSW says only 600 were made.

Don't forget the 3" 650s . . . some had dual WMR/LR cylinder set-ups. And I think some 1 7/8" 651s did, as well.
