Placed an order for a 642 Perf. Ctn.
My order is in for 642 Performance Center.
I have been carrying my Mod. 36 in a DeSantis Nemesis.

I hope you have better luck than I did with mine. I bought a 642-1 PC gun new last year, and it's been back to the factory three times for repair. I still have yet to shoot it. It appears to finally be good to go, but I've lost interest in it. I have it for sale on my local forum.

That’s a nice little carry revolver. I gave two of my girls a 442 and 642. I like the DA only for a carry. I’m wondering where the PC guns are worth the extra C note. But it does look nicer with wood stocks. I saw M36 so I thought I’d post a couple pics. I found that pocket holster at a military surplus place for 5 bucks. The 36 no dash fits it perfectly in front pocket. Have fun with your new gun when it comes.

I carried my M36 no dash until, I bought a SIG 365.
Pocket carry is my favorite go to.
The SIG was born in Apr. of 2019, and I found it consigned at my local FFL. in Nov. of that same year.
It had been back to the Mothership to repair a broken firing pin, but upon return the OP decided to sell it.
All seemed fine, until the FP failed on me as well.
Early guns had an issue with breakage, but supposably worked out the bug. After mine broke its second FP, SIG wanted to charge me to repair it as I was not the original owner.
Claimed the new improved part was the fix.
The Authorized SIG dealer in Orlando put the part in and consigned and sold it, with both my confidence dashed and any brand loyalty I had, was solved by its sale.
I went back to my M36, and now my new 642.
Sorry D1911, had his issues with his, what was the problem?

I'm more of a vintage S&W owner.
My current modest collection consists of a M&P (S prefix pre-Mod. 10)
Circa 1946, a Mod 1917 (see avatar), a Hand ejector 32/20 circa 1926, my no dash M36 (circa 1982) and an 1878 2nd Model Russian. All of which, photos have been seen on this forum.
The 642 will be my only New Smith I've ever bought.

I bought a 642 PC in 2018. I've shot it alot and carried it often. Great out of the bx trigger pull. Never had any problems with mine.

Everything I've seen and watched, show the 442 & 642 in a good light.
I also understand, anything mechanical can have teething issues.
I know I really have had a good gun in my M36, which is not retired btw, but I opted for the lighter 642....

It's home and is SWEET !
no issues cosmetically or function.
SWEET trigger, as expected about 8 lbs
Altamont supplied grips are fine for my hand (fit & finish fine)

Well, I took it out to my back pasture range and shot both my hand loaded 3.2 grain Titegroup & SB wadcutters and Hornady 110 grain Critical Defense rounds.
The wadcutters are just for practice and saw an average of 818 FPS.
The separation was 28 fps.
The Hornady CD's 897- 924 average 910.5 separation 27 fps.
about 100 fps faster through the 624.
Felt recoil was moderate with both, trigger about 8 IBS.
I have ordered a box of Hornady Lite 90 grain Critical Defense.
just for fun.

I was going to get some Hornady Lite 90 grain Critical Defense.
But after watching U tube reviews, on the 90's I suppose I'll pass.
