Question 350 Legend

I bought this revolver new in July of 2023, and immediately upon firing the first round, knew I had a problem, but did not want to admit it. It was sending debri back in my face. I continued in denial for several months, and it was too late to send it back, as I would miss using it during deer season. Once season was over, (without firing a shot) I sent it back to S&W. Five weeks later it was returned to me. The forcing cone was bevel ground, and determined to be "range ready" by the factory rep. Again, it was sending debri back, but only to the left side of my face. Another return was necessary, but this time I requested a replacement. Six weeks later I was sent my same revolver, BUT with a new barrell. Finally a fine shooting revolver.
Wanting to know if anyone else has experienced similar problems, both with the revolver, and with service.

About 300 rounds, several different cartridges, through mine...shoots great, no problems.

Have either of you ever seen any published velocities for that round when fired through a pistol? Just kind of curious.

Greetings! Glad to see this thread. I do not mean to hijack this thread with my question.

I'm presuming that the S&W 350 is designed and marketed solely for handgun hunting, and possibly as a companion sidearm for someone using a rifle in 350 Legend (if one exists).

The heaviest Magnum that I've fired is a 41 Magnum, and that was prior to an accident that resulted in numerous musculoskeletal injuries. I was wondering, how does the recoil of a 350 Legend compare to the recoil of a 41 Magnum?

As always, thanks in advance for your help!

I've read that the 350 Legend is comparable to a 44 Magnum, recoil wise.
The variables would be the ammo and revolver's size/weight.

I haven't had time to continue my work up loads with other bullets in my S&W 350, but I get 1760 fps with 25.0 gr of Enforcer behind a 147 gr Hornady XTP with a CCI 400 rifle primer. Recoil is not extra heavy with the weight of the pistol and light bullet. My 41 and 44 Mag handguns are considerably lighter. The S&W 350 is an X-Frame revolver. The 350 Legend was developed as a rifle cartridge primarily for use in semiautomatic rifles with case characteristics similar to 223.

I have a S&W 350 Legend revolver and a CVA Scout in 350 Legend. Both are great shooters. If it ever stops raining, I will get my Garmin out and report back.

Picked up my new S&W 350M the other day. Seems like there is plenty of ammo to be had.

Yes, even at Wally World, plenty of 350 Legend ammo even though they no longer carry much, if any, handgun ammo. And relatively inexpensive ammo too.

Didn't they have something called a 357 maximum back in the early 80's that went to poop after finding it gave excessive topstrap cutting in the super blackhawk revolver???
The max had 34 gr case capacity and was loaded to 40,000 psi while the legend has 36.5 gr case capacity and loaded to 50,000 psi.
The more things change the more they remain the same.

Kinda like the question what makes the 6.5 Creedmore so much better than the 260 Remington.

I always thought it was funny that WM stopped carrying handgun ammo, but they still carry .22LR, which is now pretty much the most popular handgun ammo in use…
