Default Any Model 648 Fans?

I recently acquired an early model 6 shot 648 from a friend's estate and have yet to shoot it. He wasn't a revolver guy and the gun had come to him from his father's estate just a few years ago. I don't know any history on it but it appears to be little used and came with the box, cleaning kit, paperwork, etc, and it seems that the factory Combats were on it from new. Any and all feedback is appreciated. I hope to get it out in the next week or so.

They are great guns, we say that about so many S&W models but it's true. The 648 compared to the 48 is like the 17s/18s compared to the 617. Here's one scoped with some black after market finish, I have no idea why. I usually put scoped S&Ws back to their original configuration but this one shoots so well I've left it as I found it. This one is about the same timeframe as yours; SN BFA0675.

Great package you have, enjoy it.

Interesting. I would probably still lean towards the Single Nine....unless I could find a nice pre-lock 648.
