Default Elmer Keith followed me home.......

***UPDATE - I HAVE LISTED THIS ONE FOR SALE ON THE FORUM***

I picked up a couple pieces locally recently and this is one of them.

It is an unfired Elmer Keith edition in presentation case.

These were put out in 1985 shortly after Elmer's passing and were a limited run of only 2500. This one is EMK0299

Although I did not get paperwork or original packing/ shipping boxes, it's still a nice piece.

I own another with ALL of the original goodies, so this is kind of a "spare" to have around......at least until someone talks me out of it!

These qualify for C&R which is nice!

My neighbor and I each bought one when they first came out. I always like his stories .... whether true or not!

While some gunwriters may have shoot their groups with their typewriters, most of Elmer's peers stated that, "If Elmer said it happened, it happened."

Me too. I’ve own several of his books, but have no doubt that he stretched the truth.

OP, Nice gun. It’s almost a shame that it wasn’t fired so that you could enjoy shooting it

I have another one that has ALL of the original packing/shipping boxes where as this one does not.

I am very tempted to shoot this one and sell it as a collector/shooter so someone else can actually enjoy having it and taking it out once in a while.
Hmmmm???

Look on page 146 in HELL I WAS THERE
There is a photo of Elmer, Lorraine and "Two unidentified" men....those fellows are my hunting partner's father Bill Williamson and his friend from back east who went on a hunt with Elmer in the late 1940's

My hunting partner Dwight is now 87 years old and his family lived here in Salmon for a few years in the late 1940's before moving to Lewiston ID

Dwight's father was fortunate to know not only Elmer, but also met Jack O'Conner and Vernon Speer when he moved to Lewiston.

At one point when young Dwight lived here in Salmon he floated down a portion of the Salmon river with non other than Clark Gable!

One of my best friends since high school showed me through his safes last year and he pulled out an unfired Keith commemorative like this that I had no clue he had. But I was even more turned on when he showed me an unfired 5” 27-2in box with all goodies.

Nice find OP. I saw Elmer Keith at the Great Western gun show at the Pomona fairgrounds around 79-81. He was sitting in a chair at the end of an aisle in the big building (the show had several buildings this being the main one). He seemed to be taking a break. Having read his contributions in the gun rags, I was in awe. I just nodded a kind of acknowledgment and he did the same. I kick myself for not introducing myself and thanking him for his work.

I suppose if you are going to own an un-fired firearm you might as well have one that you really like!

The only other un-fired S&W I currently own is a factory class "C" engraved nickel 3.5" 27-2 that shipped March of 1969
