Unless someone has inside info from a distributor, it would be very difficult to find out wait times, and past history may be unhelpful.
Someone could've ordered one though a store and they could've been in stock at a distributor, this resulting in a very short wait.
Or, S&W could've been between batches. They're not continuously cranking out numerous models of revolvers the way that they do M&P Full/Compact or Shield models. Or say, Model 10 and Model 64 revolvers back in the 1970s and 1980s. They make X amount of a number of models, then switch over to something else.
I can understand if you're averse to buying a gun without seeing it in person, but short of calling all the gun dealers in your area, it'll be tough to get a reliable estimate of when the next batch is getting made.
