Default S&W revolver values

I'm a noob and I've got a sister whose husband passed and left her with a collection of guns. I'm trying to help her determine the value of the guns she's selling primarily a model 39-6 (Lady Smith) and a AirLite PD. Both are around 20-25 years old and both chambered in .38. Any help would be appreciated. I've seen plenty of asking prices online but not very many actual selling prices. Thanks in advance.

Those are semi-automatic pistols. This is the revolver forum - you might try the appropriate place.

I suspect the OP meant “36-9.”

Welcome to the forum from Colorado. Sorry to hear of the passing in your family but nice being able to help your sister.
The S&W Model 39 is a semi auto 9mm pistol so as you also called it a Lady Smith and it’s a .38, it is most likely a Model 60 but there are other possibilities. Post pictures and there are plenty of folks here who will happily help you out identifying what she has. I’m guessing the model name and number for the AirLite PD is a 337 or a 342. Again, more information and pictures will help. For values once you have the correct model numbers, I’d recommend you check Completed Sales on the major on line auction site.
Once again, welcome to the forum.

I would guess each would be worth about $500 in a private party sale, as you could do in the Wanted to Sell/Trade section here on the site. A gun store or pawn shop would probably give you half of the value or less.

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.

My sincere condolences to your sister and the whole family.

The Model 36-9 Lady Smith is a special revolver -- the last of the
series before the company introduced the internal lock. (photo
of a 60-9 .357 magnum, stainless steel version, attached)

If your sister has the jewel case and the paperwork I'd suggest
the value is in the $600 neighborhood, a bit less without the
goodies.

I cannot help with the Airlight PD.

Value will depend a lot on condition and pictures would help to determine an appropriate range.

FWIW value is very subjective and can vary wildly depending circumstances. If you walk into a gun shop and ask them how much they will buy a gun, you will get a very different number than if walking into a shop and buying that same gun. Private party sale will also vary quite a bit depending on whether the seller is desperate to get of the gun or buyer is more desperate to own the gun.

Guns are sold by condition and price. $500 is average. Now pictures and description would help determine its actual value. Unfired and in original box would substantially increase the value. One dragged through a sand box and never cleaned and value goes down quickly. Scratches or wear marks? Finally what does the owner expect, fair price, highest price or just wants to get rid of it? How much time do you care to spend on it.
