Default Model 64-3 3" Barrel

Like many others here. I love 3" K frames. I have gathered a pretty good collection. Two model 13-3, one blue and one nickel, two model 19, one -3 French contract and one -7 K comp, four model 65, two -2, one round butt and one square butt, one 65-3 and one 65-5 Lady Smith, four model 66, one -2, two -3, and one -4. Prior to finding this model 64 I was in quite a draught. I had not seen any other 3" K frames for the last couple of years that were worthy or priced right. I did pretty good with this one. $438.43 OTD. Now if I can only find a nice model 10. I would be a very happy camper.

I love the 3" K-frames. Wish I had a couple more, but the 65-5 3" round butt is all I own.

Good score on that Model 64. As most of us know the 3" K frame fixed sight Magnums like the Model 13 and Model 65 have gone through the roof in value. But I wouldn't hesitate for a second if I found a 3" Model 64 or Model 10 at an attractive price. There are plenty of high performance .38 Special +P loads out there today and not being in .357 Magnum isn't that big of a detriment if you wanted to carry one for self defense.

Default S&W 3” RB

I have a Model 13-3 and a Model 64-5. Both 3” HB RB. Would like to get a pair of finger grove combat grips for them. Any recommendations?

The Spegel-designed Uncle Mikes.

I get them off EBay all the time.

SSGRock, if you are looking for good fitting, well made, combat stocks. I recommend vitoonmakers on Ebay. He is out of Thailand. Stocks are affordable and they ship quickly. K round combats are typically between $80 and $120 depending on wood. If you want high-end, I strongly suggest John Culina out in Oregon. Photo with 3 guns are vitoomakers. Nickel model 13 is J Culina grips.

Bought this one decades ago.
My sister needed it for a while.
About 30 years or so.

She decided it was too heavy so I traded her my 2" 30-1.

I'm happy, she's happy.

Enjoy,

bdGreen

SSGRock, I also use the ebay grips. Actually waiting for a pair now. The guy I use charges a tad under $55. I have a pair on my 3 inch M 65 and they fit great and feel great.

Nice! I have had a 3" M64-3 for quite some time, I picked it up from my old LGS back in the late 90's. He had gotten a group of police department trade ins from a local department, mostly 4" M65's, a few 4" M64's and a couple of 3" M64's and 65's. That was my first 3" S&W, great shooting gun!

Fantastic K 3" collection Dino44. I wish you luck finding that elusive 3" Model 10. I found this one a few years back at a LGS with the target grips (stocks) from the factory.

Thank you for posting markeb. Your model 10 is an absolute thing of beauty! Especially with those target stocks. Such a great and complete package.

Nice score on your model 64 with 3" barrel. I love the 3" barrel K frame guns, but I haven't got a model 64 yet. I am trying to talk my brother out of his 3" model 64.
Here are mine. Some 65's, nickel 13's, and blued 13's. I have a square butt 65 in the lower left and a model 10-8 in the lower right. The model 10 looks like new with box and all the goodies.

Outstanding collection scout II. Very impressive! Do you have any history on your square butt model 65? Mine came with the original box indicating a 4" barrel. It also has a spec order code that others here have said is not just a Julian date. I just have not gotten around to getting it lettered yet. Just out of curiosity. Do you also have a model 547 3''? That and a model 10 are the ones I am missing.

Thanks Dino, it took me a long time to accumulate these. I wonder what the SPECIAL is for on your gun. A letter would be cool. I did not receive the box with my square butt 65, but I assumed it used to be a 4" gun when new, and then someone swapped the 4" barrel for a 3" barrel. I also had a 2.5" barreled model 19-2 with square butt. That gun came to me with rubber grips, so I didn't even know it was a square butt until I cleaned it after I received it. I am sure that was a 4" gun also.
I never did pick up a 3" model 547. If I ever find one for a good price, I will snag it fast.
