Interested. Are they any good? Want a nice .22 revolver. Have seen Model 34 kit guns, high 700$ to $1100 plus. But I have confidence in these.

I’ve been able to examine a few of them. If I didn’t own the guns I do now, I would buy one. Sure, they are not made like/look like the older guns. I wouldn’t let that stop me from trying one.

BTW, are you sure you want a J-frame? New production K-frames are out there too at decent prices, and generally make better target shooting revolvers, where the 63 is more of a trail gun - but both can fill in for the other. Just a thought.

My wife got me one for Christmas. It is a fun little gun. Grips are a little small if you have big hands. That goes with a J frame. Empties eject with no problem with mine. I can shoot better with my Model 17 but I can say that with just about every other revolver I own. I certainly wouldn’t discourage you from buying one. Like I said, it is a fun little gun!

I have had my 3" model 63, 8 shot revolver for probably 8 or 9 years now

I do really like it, it sits in the pocket very well and of course it's eight rounds

I really did not need it I already own three of the 2" model 34s including one that I have set up a second 22 Magnum cylinder for

Now there is a ridiculously cool variation on this revolver and that is the 2" model 317. This revolver has an aluminum frame, an aluminum cylinder and an aluminum shroud over the steel barrel liner bringing the total weight of the pistol to roughly 8 ounces. I have had mine for well in excess of 25 years now making the purchase when they first came out

I have the Ridicuiously Cool model 317 Air-Lite with a 3 inch barrel and adjustable sights (cool fiber optic front ) the 3 inch barrel is no harder to pocket than a 2 inch ... it weighs 11 ounces , that's also Cool ...
in a pocket or belt holster you don't know it's there and I love the cool adjustable sights ...sight in any ammo you want .
I didn't need it but so glad I got it because I didn't realize how much I did need it !

A new 3" Mod 63 is on my list of "future purchases if I ever see one".

I have a beautiful 4" 43 that I almost, foolishly sold, (too many conditions of sale). It comes out to teach new shooters, children/grandchildren. I'm glad I didn't sell it.

I have a 3" Mod 317 which I find difficult to shoot because it is so light.. It might work better with a 4 or 5 inch steel barrel. It's so light it's hard to tell if you are carrying it. It would probably work best if carried in a life-jacket.

I have a 5" ,8 shot Mod 63 that is my go to day-pack/fanny-pack .22LR.

I'd like to try a 3" 63 as a replacement for the 317.

I also have a Ruger Single-Six .22LR/.22Magnum which I don't use as often as I should.

I say buy the 63. I would.

Just recently got a new 63 when the rebates were going on. Have a M 18 that was my fathers but don`t want to overshoot it. Realize that is not likely but want to keep the finish pristine, which it is. I can say that the trigger on my 63 is pretty bad. I just yesterday ordered the combo spring kit from Wolff. Hope that will be the cheapest way out. Also thinking that if I get the trigger smoothed out that I might switch out the fiber optic for a steel ramp sight, ala a M 60. Additionally, you might not be too far from the new Colt 22 if their numbers increase some. If the future gun shop has both, be sure to check out the trigger pull, then decide.

Life's is just way ...too short to always go the cheapest way... splurge just once and get a Trigger Job by Clark Custom Guns .
One of their Target Trigger jobs puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart every time I shoot it ... best money I ever spent on a firearm !

They're a nice revolver, I added a round to square butt grip to fill my hand better but I can shoot my 617's a lot better.

Youse guys are making me want a 3-inch 63 - even with that fool FO front sight.

I guess I have heard too many horror stories about new S and W revolvers and saw a couple myself.
