Default MOD 29-3 w/S&W Poster - Value

I bought this new in the early 80's

MOD 29-3 6" Nickel N909XXX

In excellent condition, has not been shot much in the last 40 years.

Have original wood case although the felt lining has fallen apart.

Original stock wood grips.

Here's the interesting part, to me anyway, besides the gun.

Comes with a limited edition S&W poster. Numbered, Signed and also signed with serial number of the gun. Kind of cool to
have along with the gun.

Also including couple of holsters, a few speed loaders and grip.

Looking around seems gun alone is going for $1,000 +/-

Let me know what anyone thinks

It only let me up load 5 photos so I'll add another post to follow.

Your Model 29-3 definitely shows signs of use, but it's still in excellent condition. The 29-3 has not achieved much in collector value and is often maligned because of quality control and the lack of pinned barrel and recessed chambers. They might not be the best shooters of the Model 29 family as the 29-3 lacks the endurance upgrades of the 29-4 and later versions. I would say that $1000 is a reasonable value for your Model 29-3, especially since you do have its presentation case.

The holsters, I recognize the Bianchi, the other one I do not, but quality made leather shoulder holsters in used, but very good condition are easily worth $50 each.

Cannot help you on the print, I'm not an art collector by any stretch.

Welcome! Agree with the above value estimate.

Member jcelect here on the Forum does an excellent job with refurbishing Presentation case liners if you are interested.

I also have a poster like the one you have. It is serial numbered to a 29-3 10 5/8 inch Silhouette 44 Mag. I have only seen a few of those posters.

FWIW, I have not seen the poster before. Very cool!

Clearly intended for silhouette...

No idea on price or FMV; I'd buy one for ~$200.00 if I saw it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm following along.

The gun is about where I figured. I'm still going
to try to find out more about the print.

Of coarse as I take out the gun and mess with it, you
start thinking, do I really want to sell it, it's a pretty nice piece.

My thoughts mostly agree with others. The nickel finish is not excellent but very good. The -3 is not pinned or recessed, you do not have the box / case, and doubtful you will get -2 value from a -3. The print is a nice addition since it is serial numbered to the gun but marginally evaluates the package value. I believe $750 - $800 would be tops. Put it in an auction and anything can happen…

Default Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing pictures of your 29 and of the poster. They are both very cool! The poster is very interesting and I have not seen one of those before. I couldn't estimate a value associated with your revolver and poster as a package, but I generally agree with what some others have said in their replies. I especially agree with the suggestion to put it up for auction. You never know what might happen at auction, because you might reach one of a handful of people in the country who have a special reason to highly desire that revolver and poster. And that would be a win-win. Because it would end up in the hands of someone who really appreciated it. Thanks again for sharing!

In my neck of the woods that gun would bring 1000 easy. I have a few from the 1980s and they are excellent shooters even without the endurance package as are my 29-2s.

The print was a limited edition promotion by S&W. They also did a Law Enforcement theme/style print with I believe a Model 66 or 686. I believe your print went with N-frames and the LE print went with K/L frames? You had to send in a dealer's invoice or receipt with date of purchase and your revolver serial number. They would than add your serial number to the print and mail it to you. I would value the framed print at around $150 to $200. Since it has a serial number, hopefully it stays with that revolver. I have used my print in several displays including two Model 29 displays for the NRA annual meeting.

This thread was from the collectible forum. If you read thru it, Club Gun Fan is a S&W historian and might be able to help you out with more info.

I think that's a pretty good estimate.

Yes, I would not separate them. gun and poster will stay together as a set.

Through a few replies I was able to figure the artist is "Joe Isom"
