Can anyone confirm the variation of a blued model 29-3, with full lug 6" bbl, non-fluted cylinder, and an adjustable front sight the same as on the silhouette 10 5/8" bbl? It also is a square butt. I have not seen the revolver in person, have only read the above owner description. I have been unable to find any specifics on this configuration. Any information would be appreciated!

I have the gun you describe except that mine is a 29-5.
I can dig out the box tomorrow for the product code if you are interested.

Old photo of it with excessive oil !

Jerry,
That is the gun. I wonder if the -3 on the revolver in question may be a -5. Thank you for the photo. It looks like a dandy!

The revolver (29-3) is known as the "Classic Hunter" model. There was a contest in SHOOTING TIMES magazine to come up with a name for the gun. They came with target hammer and trigger and finger-grooved, rubber Hogue monogrips.
I bought mine in July 1988.
They are discussed on page 201 of SCS&W III, listing them with product code 101230, 5,000 made in 1987.

My 29-3 is exactly what you are describing. Were a special Lew Horton run of 5,000 guns made in 1987.
