The first batch has apparently sold out at online dealers for a low of $1013 at Locked & Loaded (they often have good deals) and a high of $1500 at Grab A Gun (where you can sometimes grab a deal and sometimes grab a gouging).

Thank you! Looks like I'll have to wait for one regardless unless I want to way overpay.

At those prices, I'd look for a nice, pre-lock/MIM example, e.g., 629-4,
625-6. etc. Should be able to find one for $800 to $1000, without much work.

I may need to come out west!

Around here, any prelock MG that isn’t thrashed is $1100-$1200 which makes it pretty much a push!

You won’t get any of my 629-4s for $1000.

I paid $1200 several years ago for a 625-7 MG. I would rather found a -6 but couldn't find one at a reasonable price. The -7 is a 45 colt pre lock with MIM parts. I think the 629-5 were the same in 44 mag.

If I had a choice between an early pre-lock MG and new one for the same price, I’d jump on the early one.

One sold on GB for 1750 and another at 1280. Of course you have to add shipping, taxes, and transfer fee to that.

When Colt reissued the Python recently, prices were way over list for awhile, then settled down. Now you can buy one for well under MSRP. I expect the same will happen with the mountain guns. We'll see where we are a year from now. Meanwhile, I'd just like to see one in person.

If you gently overpay, that's just buying one a little early. It's just money.
