Default 629-1 snubbie question

Ran across a 629-1 3 inch snubbie today. The gun has factory combats that need a light sanding and clear. Asking is $850 + tax . I think I might buy it but curious about the history of this configuration . Price about right?

I just found a 629-5 Trail Boss with the ported barrel for about C note less than the one you're looking at (walk out). I thought it was a pretty decent deal but also consider the port a C note deduction! The -5 also started the MIM trigger/hammer, another deduction. The -5 should have the "endurance" parts. An addition that might cancel the deduction for the MIM parts.

In my book $850 would be a reasonable deal, not a steal of a deal but certainly not unbearable. I think the one you are looking would also have more resale appeal than the one I got assuming it isn't a beater.

Well, I picked it up today. Its in near mint other than grips being a touch dirty. I haven't seen any for sale locally in past 3 years. Called gun store and told them i would take it please set aside. I've bought several guns from them but on this one they had 2 callers this morning saying they would take it. Since they weren't regulars they were told they had to be first in store with cash and I would have to beat them there.

Had it in my jacket headed to the door when I heard a guy ask where the 629 was. Close call.

At $850 you did very well for a 3" dash 1. I paid a little more than that for this dash 1. The combats need some TLC but is definitely a keeper!!
