Presently looking for holster options without light or red dot compartments. Just a simple holster for this tactical .357 sidearm at the moment. Thanks!

Welcome to this great forum. Bianchi has a ballistic nylon holster for the 4" N frame, that's relatively cheap and very functional.

Thanks for the welcome!
My 327 M&P R8 has a 5" barrel though? Also will this holster allow the weapons picatinny rail? Thanks

Safariland makes competition holsters for this gun. There are some variations in texture, barrel length, allowance for barrel diameter.

Sorry, I thought it was a 4" gun. Dillon has a leather belt slide holster for a 5" full lug N frame, it may work without the light mounted.

I just bought a new 327 M&P R8 as you did back in October. Can you tell me if you found one and if so who it was.
Thanks

Sorry to bump this old thread guys, but has anything changed in a year? I still cant find a black holster for the M&P R8 anywhere. The post above did not specify a part/model # and I can't find it.
Any help?

Try this link to Sidearmor holsters. They may have what you need.
I bought one for a different pistol and the quality was nice.
Good luck,
K.

Appreciate the link, but, I don't believe that one will fit.
It says "Will not fit the revolvers with the light rail (unless it's removable)" and "Please note that the scandium frame N Frame revovlers will not fit in this holster due to the differences in barrel size"
The R8 has a fixed light rail in front.

I went ahead and sent an email to S&W for holsters. I'll post the answer when I get it.
This is what i get for buying an odd model.

I got a Blade Tech holster for mine, it took about a month to get but it is made so you can have the light rail mounted if you have the TRR8. http://www.blade-tech.com/SRB-...Approved-pr-939.html
No the Sidearmor holster for a full lugged stainless gun will not work, the barrel shroud is too big.

Got a reply from S&W, heres their response:
"Hi, I suggest trying G&G leather at 1-800-277-0732."
After some googling with this info, I found this: http://www.gouldusa.com/
A search of the site turned up nothing. I will call them and blade-tech tomorrow.

The place S&W recommended, G&G (Gould) said they had nothing for the R8 and said they do not do "one-off" pieces. A minimum order of 25 is required.
Blade-tech said it would "probably not fit" (the TRR8 holster, that is) but did offer to make a custom one. I would have to ship them the gun.
Sent back an angry email to S&W about their "recommendation".
nuts!

Try Bladetech. They just made one for my 325 TR revolver. And I am sure they have one for the M&P R8. When I had them do the holster they did not have a holster for the S&W Performance center guns with the light mount rail. I sent them photos and measurements. On delivery The package was marked M&P R8 4". It fits my 325TR. The folks at Bladetech were very accomadating.

I have the TRR8 revolver, I picked up one of the Uncle mikes IWB holsters for the 4" medium frame revolver and it works pretty well. The size is #2 they are only $8-12.

So has anyone actually tried one of the blade-tech holsters on their M&P R8? I've seen several people now who have said that blade-tech told them it only fits the TRR8 and not the M&P R8. But it sure would seem, that if it fits the TRR8 with the rail on, it would fit the R8 as well.

I agree... but still haven't found one that looks like / or says it'll fit - except for that comp holster pictured. I wonder how much it would cost to have one custom made for it.. I'd hate to have to spent the $ after spending $1,200 on the gun!

Ask and ye shall receive...
I bought a Sourdough Pancake from Simply Rugged Holsters ? Holsters, Gun Belts, Ammo Pouches and Accessories which make the best revolver holsters in my humble opinion. My everyday carry is a 3 inch 386 in a sourdough pancake as well. Here it is, my M&P R8 with and in my simply rugged holster:
I had to take off my EoTech for these shots, but it was a necessary public service. Usually my R8 looks like this:
The simply rugged holsters are tough and quite appealing to the eye all the while being comfortable. They run about 60 or so bucks and are worth every dollar.

I am just a customer of theirs, not an equity holder.

Thanks for the pics!!! Do you think it would work if the top rail were mounted? no accessories? My plan is to have mine holstered with both rails mounted, no gear mounted to the rails.

I tried to fit the revolver in the holster with the top rail installed and it was a no-go. The top rail just will not fit in the holster. As you can see from the pictures, the R8 fits fine with the permanent lower rail into the holster. I hope this helps.

So... just to be redundant here, the blade-tech works with both rails mounted?

Hello Board 1st post! (Long time S&W user.)
Try Alessi Holsters. Hand made. Both 327 M&P R8 and 327-1 TRR8 are listed. Research this master leatersmith carefully and testimonials, and users of his equipment (who actually uses these rigs.)
The FieldMaster is a great choice for a gun like this (its a shoulder rig.) I haven't searched for other compatible models but presume Tom will make you whateverer you want for <250.00 (Don't choke on cost see what you get...)
Hope this helps!

holster
I have in use a side guard in belt holster. Use one for my model 327 and the 325. Generally forget it is even there.

Safariland 568-12
The Safariland 568-12 fits the R8 perfectly—even has a tunnel for the front sight so it won't get pushed out. It came with a belt attachment and a paddle. Kydex "frame," leather body, suede lined. Looks good, too. It was only $50 at Bass Pro. There are many versions of the 568 so make sure it's for the S&W N Frame 327. Couldn't be happier.

Safariland 568-12
Does that holster allow for the top rail or must that be removed?

Look guys, if you're gonna go wacky bananas with rails and such talk to the guys at Bladetech. They should be able to figure it out. If not, a Double Alpha Racemaster holster for an N frame will definitely solve the problem, but you'll likely choke at the price. You get what you pay for.

When I had a R8 I had Blade Tech make all of my holsters for it.
They would make a holster for just about any configuration I came up with and usually had a 4 week turnaround. That was two years ago.
