First time poster here. I'm not a huge revolver guy, though I've owned a few. I've wanted a 4 inch Smith 357. Either a K or L frame. I wasn't really shopping but came across a 586 4 inch at the local Gander Mountain. It was priced at $349 and came out to $376 w/tax. It appear in excellent condition with a few minor blemishes. I've looked on gunbroker and it seems a decent price. Once I get it cleaned up I'll post pics.

That is a great price. I would snap up a 586 at that price if it were decent. They have a generally very high quality on average with nice b/c fit and good triggers. I have two 686's and really want to add a blue one (or replace my 4" with a 4" 586). The problem is you really have a tough time selling these once you get them, they are superb revolvers.

Welcome to the forum... I paid $425 for my 586 no dash a year and half ago and thought I got a good deal. I would say you did good!

Sir, FWIW, the last couple 586s I've seen for sale around here have been in the $525 to $550 range. Good on ya.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

One of my favorite Smith's. Anything under 4 bones for a nice one is a deal these days.

I just picked up a nice one with a tad of holster wear for $375 shipped plus $25 transfer fee for my FFL so $400 total. I figured I got a pretty good deal. Small town gun shop in Missouri.

That's a good price for a used 586, especially if you bought it from Gander Mountain.
I saw one at the GM in Mooresville, NC, for just under $550. It had a lot of end shake, and since they wouldn't take my offer, I decided to pass on it. Other than the end shake, the gun was in very good condition.

I recently bought a pristine 6" 586 with no box or docs for $400 and thought I got a good deal.
