19-5 Followed Me Home
Nothing exceptional here - but a nice end of the year find anyway. Slight turn line, but I had one too when I was 30 years old. Box doesn't match.
As always, S&W serial numbers confuse me - AEF6XXX - and there is a date inside the grips: June 13 1984.

Hello,
I have your 19-5's brother. The date on the stocks is probably close to the date the revolver was completed. My 19-5 has a serial# of AFM1720 and I bought it new in December of 1984, so mine was probably shipped from the factory in November-ish. Your's is quite nice. I'm surprised though with the patridge front sight there is no target hammer or trigger. Mine has a fairly uncommon red insert ramp front sight and 3-T's.

Reason: Better pic.

Thanks for the info. I was also surprised that it didn't have Ts, but not an issue for me.
I have had a few 19s through the years with the Patridge - they are really rough on holsters! For my old eyes, neither the ramp nor the square shape make any difference in my shooting.

The AEF s/n prefix is June of 1984, so those are definitely the correct stocks. Great M19, I like Patridge sights best. I would of shipped in a one piece box like 824tsv's, except I'm not sure it would of had the "LSI" logo on the front flap. I think they started doing that around October of 1984. It possibly would of said "Bangor Punta" in that same spot.

As the more knowledgeable S&W aficionados are fond of saying: "Never say never." Nothing is etched in stone. Countries on the losing end of a war will assemble anything on a weapon to "get it out the door." I think we would be surprised to learn how often this happens in peacetime, as well.
