Did S&W make a stainless 7.5 inch 44 magnum in a model 29, or 629 pre-internal lock?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Yes there's at least 4 or 5 models made in 7.5".
The Magna Classic 29-5/629-3
The Classic Magnum and Classic Magnum II (629-? & 29-5)
One of the series of twelve revolvers was called 'The Attack' and was also a 29-5
The was a 629-5 (I think) which was a 7.5" Power Port barrel.
All these guns have full underlug barrels.
There were also some 29-5 revolvers that are in all but markings Magna Classic's. I was told once that they were the over run from MC production but that could be incorrect.

I had a 7.5 inch Magnum Hunter Plus I bought new in 2000. It was grooved for scope mounts-I put a Holosight on it.

The Performance Center has turned out a bunch of 7.5" 629 revolvers.

Thank you for the input, now here is my dilemma. My local Scheels store has a pre internal lock 44mag which they say is a Model 629 7.5 inch which they are asking $549.00 for. I looked the gun over and it is in excellent condition, however I was in a hurry to get to another appointment and did not look at the model number. I'm going back to the store today, and if it is what they say it is I will probably plunk the money down. Does the $549.00 sound like a fair price?
Thanks
Steve

If the rear sight has a rounded front edge it's a great price, if the front is squared off it's still a good deal.
We will of course expect lots of gratuitous glamour photos if you get it. ( Y )

I have this 629-5 Classic with a 7.5" Power Port barrel and an unfluted cylinder. It is marked CEE1848 629-5. I see no value in the Power Port other a sales gimmic as it sill jumps all over the place. My other 629 with a 6" barrel shot a lot better.

I like the 7.5" guns. Seems like a good length or as good as any and they're not all that common.

I think it is because I am not a fan of long barreled guns. By a rifle instead.

I have lots of rifles, but enjoy the handguns a lot as well.

I just found this forum after being registered for quite a while. I have among my other S&W revolvers and lone M 41, a Model 629-5, 7.5" ported barrel, non fluted cylinder, patridge type front sight( rounded front, square back), full length barrel underlug, Hogue type grips( gotta get something wider to spread recoil a bit) and no hammer mounted firing pin. At the same time I bought the last blued steel 29, 6" barrel the dealer had and have never shot it. The 629 probably has only had a box, maybe box and a half of ammo through it to date.
Two questions, first what is this puppy worth, not that I am planning on selling it for it's a keeper, and two, who makes a leather holster for that length.
I did find that Ahrends makes a retro type target grip that converts the round butt frame to the square butt type grip I like and am more used to as on my K-22 & K-38, both with the large target grips.

I have a Performance Center "Light Hunter" with a 7½" barrel. I especially appreciate the clever and totally functional scope mount inset in the rib for a positive recoil shoulder:
I carry it in a Bianchi "across the chest" Hush System holster.
