My 396 NG is now 100% reliable and ready for carry. Not a bad gun if you are willing to do what S&W will not. C&S firing pin solved the 2 or 3 FTF per cylinder. New springs and action job made the trigger acceptable. Mag Na Port made it controllable for follow up shots. Spegel grips and bobbing the hammer made it easy to carry in the front pocket. The lock, well it doesn't seem to work anymore.

That is a fabulous look with the wood grips, but I would just have someone hit me in the face with a lit torch rather than spend money on the ports.

Have you already done a range report on this one?

Thanks.

I did an early range report, but It shoots to point of aim with WW 200 gr ST's and Georgia arms 200Gr GD's. Accuracy is exceptionable and center of mass hits are easy back to 25 yd's. I now have 200 + rounds through it since finishing it. The porting - you like it or hate it, but they work on theses light weights, and it is much more controllable now. Besides you never know when you may need to start a fire or cauterize a wound.
