Default New to me model 10

Im in need of assistance on a model 10 that's been passed down to me from my uncle. This was his issued gun as an corrections officer. It's finish is very worn but the lock up is great. I always admired and wanted this gun as a child I'm glad I was able to convince my uncle to pass is down. I was hoping someone on this forum could give me some more info. It's a model 10-8 with a 3 inch barrel SN 10D0495

SCSW says the 10-8 came along in 1977, and indicates the s/n is from 1982. So maybe a pinned barrel? Is it round or square butt? Better just post a photo-- everyone likes 3" model 10's.

Hey the model 10's are great guns. I love the simplicity and lines of the model 10. I would leave the gun alone when it comes to the finishing. It just gives the gun character.

I am sure you will love it. My 3" model 10-5 has become my favorite revolver.
Mine is an ex police gun from Australia The 3" barrel just balances so nicely.

That's nice piece with family history.
Interesting that he installed the combat stocks ($$$now)
If it were mine, I'd leave it just as it is and just shoot it.

Thanks gentleman. I plan on leaving it as is I shot it over the weekend and it has moved into my favorite revolver slot already. What everyone says about the three inch being the best balanced is very true.
