Default apex xp firing pin tip shape

Has Apex changed their firing pin tip shape?

I just received the XP 103-107 pin kit & it came with a pointed firing pin tip (looks a lot like the competition firing pin)

I'm running a 7lbs double action trigger pull so I am a bit worried about pierced primers with the pointier pin.

Picture on Apex web site shows a rounded tip on the XP but the J frame carry kit does show a somewhat pointed firing pin.

Anybody installed the Apex 103-107 lately?

Here you go, from my previous posts on it.

929 light strikes

New S&W 327 TRR8 - light ammo strikes

Replace firing pin on MIM Smiths?

.

Not likely to pierce them but may not be long enough either.

Morning BLUEDOT37

Thank you, I searched using a number of different key words & none showed up on your linked-to threads.

That pretty well answers my question on the Apex change, I still don't know the WHY but at least it looks like they sent me their current XP firing pin.

As to length, the firing pin I received has a length of .4965 but seems to have plenty of protrusion through the frame bushing when I push on the rear of the installed firing pin. (looks like way more than I will ever need)

I fired 12 empty (primed only) sized cases this morning & they all fired (I have 12 special cases that I drilled the primer flash holes out so the primers don't back out during empty case firing). I have 6 sorted .45 cases that have .002" primer seating depth & 6 .45 cases that have .013" primer seating depth.
