Franzite grips?
Franzite Grips for a K-Frame SB! I bought some this week
and don't know anything about them. I wonder if anyone
has heard of them or have a set. They are plastic and seem
to be the plastic that was made 30 or 40 yrs. ago. If
anyone know's about these grips and if they are worth
anything I would appreciate the info. Thanks Don

Don't know anything about them. It does look like they are made of the old hard brittle plastic we called bakelite.

Franzite Grips
Not Bakelite. Might be better if they had been. I had some back in the '50's for a 1911, Woodsman, and some Smiths as well. I recall that they were attractive, very comfortable, and invariably WARPED!

Plastic. I have a pair for a Luger that could be yours if you flash some green!  They sell (sometimes) on ebay between $4 and $14. Check out completed listings.

Franzite Grips
Hi:
Franzite Grips were popular in the !940, !950, and 1960 era.
I used them and were satified with them.
The only problem that I recall were finding the correct size for Colt Revolvers. The other end is that during time Colt changed Their Model grip sizes.
Franzite Grips were the "Poor Man's" Stag,and Pearl Grips.

I gota few of them. They were used in westerns alot. The "stag" I mean. They are so cheap they are plastic and still hollow. I mean, how much would it cost to make them solid at least?

Franzite grips were made from Tenite or a very similar plastic, not Bakelite as someone speculated.
They are hollow for several reasons. Weight, at least twice the amount of material would have been needed to make them solid, and thick plastic parts tend to show shrinkage marks which are unattractive and avoided by making them as a shell with reinforcing ribs as the Franzite had.
