Just bought a model 38-2 in satin nickel here in the enchange. I was wondering if the satin nickel finish that smith used at the time(early 90's?) was electroless, or the old fashioned base metal/nickel top layer method.

I have a Model 442 in the satin nickel from the early 1990's and as far as I can tell it is just a regular nickel finish with the "brushed" surface finish.....

I have the same finish on a 1994 37-2.
S&W says it is electroless.
