29-3 Finish option ????
Today I picked up a 29-3 at a local gander mt. It was marked down to $599 and the nickel finish is tarnished in spots. After spendind some time w/ the manager and expressed an interest, he marked it down to $300 due to the finish blemishes. My question is what can I use to try and recover the finish OR what are my options for refinishing. I'm not trying to create a safe queen as the blemishes aren't pitted just noticeable. I bought it to shoot as I didn't have any large framed revolvers and nothing bigger than a 357 so the price was the deciding factor. Who and how much to re-nickel it or can it be striped and blued as a less expensive option should I choose

Smith can and will re-nickel it for you. Call and ask for a price at 1-800-331-0852.
They told me a few years ago that they can strip the nickel and then blue a gun also. I don't like nickel. I love blued guns, but had seen several nickel guns with finish issues, and lower prices, so that's why I asked them about it. They do incredible bluing work too!

Thanks for the #. I'd like it blued if it comes down to that, I bought it because the rest of the gun is in great shape and I didn't have anything bigger than a 357 L frame. I also don't have a blue gun just stainless and nitrate

I'll also recommend calling S&W about a refinish.
If it were mine I'd prefer it to be in blue rather than nickel.

You might try polishing the nickel finish lightly with Flitz. It is very good at removing blemishes and minor cloudiness in the finish. I would do this before considering having the 29-3 refinished.

ditto on that, or maybe even Simichrome.
I've taken Simichrome to a tired looking nickel finish with a commercial grade paper towel, and man did it look like new!
