1904 M&P round butt grips on a modern K-frame?
Will an old set of round butt grips from a 1904 K-frame M&P fit on a modern K-frame round butt?

Picture this...
I just lucked out on a Model 547.
I plan to put on a shiny set of Tyler T-grips and vintage factory black plastic grips from a 1904 Hand ejector
I've learned not to like varnished wood grips this summer. I've been in the woods A LOT these days and have been using a liberal amount of Deep Woods OFF bugs spray. That stuff gets all over my hands ans melts right through varnish...
I'm hoping it doesn't melt old plastic!

It probably will. Your grips are probably hard rubber rather than true plastic. Deet/Off will bugger that up too.
Strip the varnish off your stocks and oil them. They will take on a beautiful sheen.

it would look cool, so if you wanna try it, get some reproductions from Tombstone gun grips, or Vintage gun grips, and hang on to the vintage ones.

I'm going to be the naysayer here and say NO. All the repo grips fit poorly at best and the later frames were more uniform than pre war frames. Remember, before the 50's grips were fit to the gun. Just my nickles worth.

I put an old set on a round butt model 10. They fit ok, but there is metal evident around the edges. Not a perfect fit, but ok.

pic?
Have you got a pic of that sir?
Are we talking 1/16" or <1/32" of gap?
I could live with 1/32" but 1/16" would look like too much metal showing...

Almost any of the available bug spray's will damage hard rubber grips. My recommendation is to use Pachmayer rubber grips, because they are relatively cheap, and if they get damaged you can easily replace them.
