Model 64's at J&G Sales???
Hey gang, I've been thinking about picking up one of the $249 Model 64's they have over at J&G Sales. (sorry, I don't know how to attach a link)
Has anyone purchased one of these guns? Looks like a good deal. Any info would be welcome.

I bought one of the $239. model 64s. It had some holster dings that pretty much went away with some Mothers polish. My gunsmith put some Wolff springs in it and I put new stocks on it . The gunsmith said it looked like it had hardly been shot. It is very accurate and fun to shoot. Put me down as very satisfied.

I also picked up a J&G 64 - one of the $269 guns. Mine is a square butt 64 no dash NY-1. No MIM, no IL.
It had a lot of scratches - especially around the backstrap area and on the side plate, and most of the 'Vapor Hone' finish had worn off the barrel. The scratches buffed out pretty easily.
Lockup is tight, the bore is shiny and, after pulling the side plate and cleaning out all the gnarly gook that had accumulated inside, the DAO trigger pull is very smooth.
It shoots just a tad low with 158 gr at 25 yards. I have to stand the front sight up ever so slightly in the notch to get POA.

J&g 64
I got one of the $229 ones and other than the usal holster wear it's in great shape. Lock up timing and bore all looked carried alot and shot little.

We ordered....
7 of them so far. I took one of the 64-5's home, cleaned it up, and am more than satisfied with the piece. Same-same as the others, brown crud inside that had to be cleaned out with a detail cleaning, and a bit of holster/carry wear, but little use. I do mean little use! The one I picked out of the bunch is a round butt, with all the late stuff sans the lock. Still a slick little piece, and it gives two distinct 'stages' to the trigger pull, making it very easy to accurately shoot the piece in deliberate fire.
The first three we got in didn't last long enough to get 'em logged into the bound book. We ordered four more, and sold two. Still have two of 'em.
Where else ya gonna get a "cosmetically challenged only" S&W for that kind of money? Well worth the money and effort!
