In another thread it was brought up, that the J-Frames in 357magnum have a device to lock the centerpin.

"The bolt block pin sticks out on one side of the hand about midway up the hand. It prevents the bolt from moving forward when the hand is in position at the moment of firing. "

Has anyone a picture or anything else, that helps understand the working of this device at hand?

Thanks,
Fritz

There isn't a lot to understand. When the trigger is pulled the hand and attached pin move up in the frame and the pin moves into the gap between the front of the bolt and the back of the frame. It forms a physical block.

But do any of the J frames have this?

Okay, there seems to be enough interest in this unusual subject that I decided to take a picture of some current production J Hands for .357 Magnum models.

The image below shows a pair of new hands on the right, positioned to show the hand from a left & rear perspective. You can see the bolt block pin in the middle of the left side of the hand.

The J Hand on the left is a current production factory oversize hand for the .357 Magnum J-frames (and it also has the bolt block pin).

Unfortunately, I don't have any standard (non-Magnum) J Hands in my parts drawers for comparison at the moment (and I'm too lazy to open up any of my other J-frames just for this thread ;) ).
